Is anyone on (or been on in the past) a daily med for anxiety/depression?
My panic attacks are getting worse and I just feel constantly aggravated and upset. I do have Xanax for the panic attacks, but it takes almost an hour to kick in, so I still have to pretty much deal with the attacks. I'm seeing a therapist and she says I should see my dr again b/c I probably have a panic disorder and not just anxiety We will see if therapy helps, but if not I may have to go on a daily med. I am terrified. I am worried about the side effects and I am also worried that I will spend forever going on and off of different meds, trying to find the right one.
I take the generic of Klonopin, which is clonazepam. I'm lost without it and can certianly tell if I do not take it for a day (do not take it if I'm sick with the flu, etc). My RX ran out a few weeks ago and I went two-three days without it and my whole body was jittery.
Do you have a psychiatrist or a general doctor? Sometimes a general doctor will not prescribe them (mine wont) and a psychiatrist costs an arm and a leg but I feel I get the best care from him.
Might I suggest a beta blocker? It's non addictive and it was working very well for me. I did have to stop it for my pregnancy however. I also tried seroquel and it worked but left me super drowsy all day.
I was on clonazepam for 5 years which is NOT recommended at all. Why I was allowed to do so by my doctors, is beyond me. It is great for short term ie: a month at most but I had to go into a detox center to be safely taken off of it. When coming off it, you experience more anxiety than you started with and it is a nightmare. :/
I hope you find peace for your situation. *hugs*
I have had anxiety/panic for over 10 years now and it's a pain.
