I have generalized anxiety, phobias, sensory processing disorder, OCD and what we believe is depression..
However, I was showing symptoms of bipolar.
My prescriber put me on Zoloft and told me to have my family keep a very close eye on me because I may get manic, which would officially diagnose me as bipolar, not depressed.
I'm not sure if I am or not..
I'm sleeping alright for the most part (I always have insomnia anyways)
but my grandfather, we believe, is bipolar and when he was manic he would throw himself into something (like owning a store or breeding 50+ birds)
I bought a fish a while back..maybe a month ago..
and now I have 12 fish, 15 shrimp and a snail...
Some of the fish are bettas, so I have 5 tanks to keep the boys apart.
It dawned on me today that my grandfather used to do the same thing...
I've also been spending money a little more easily than I should.
And talking to friends more.
I don't feel "On top of the world", but I don't feel "Blah" either.
Nothing has been making me mad or sad lately. I'm either neutral or happy.
Maybe my Zoloft is just starting to do it's job?

Hard to say, but not all bipolar have manic episodes. I have bipolar II and I don't get full blown manic episodes. I too can spend more money than I should, talk a lot, can't sleep etc., then I go into a depression. It can be hard to get the right diagnose.
I've been diagnosed bipolar I, moved to mood disorder NOS, and re-classified as Bipolar 1. DH was seasonal depression, then major depression, and now Bipolar II. We are both on the same medication, however currently I'm not also on an anti-depressant. When is your next doctors appointment? I would call if your worried. If you are bipolar they may just also put you on an anti-convulsing. There's really no way to know if your mood is normal or to high. I would start a mood tracker. If you have a smartphone you can look for a free tracker like e-moods. Sorry I wasn't much help. best of luck.
