Hi there, I have been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, type 1 for a number of years. Over the years i have experienced serve mania as well as depression, where I can go from being violent to being suicidal. In the last year I have had better control over it non medicated then I have ever had.
However I am now 29 weeks pregnant with my first child and wondering how being bipolar will affect me as a mum. Especially now that i will be a single mum without the father being involved.

I'm sorry I really can't relate about children. Our only child is in Heaven but I wanted to say I'm wishing you the best and sending BIG HUGS to you.

I have bipolar 1 as well. I do think it has some affect on my parenting but my dh is very supportive and my kids have only recently learned about my bipolar and don't really understand it. It doesn't really affect how I parent, but it does affect my moods and personality sometimes. I don't like them to see me depressed for too long.
