So I was just wondering if anyone else had participated in the National Pregnancy Registry while pregnant and taking mental health medication????
When my psychiatrist and I were discussing what medications I should and shouldn't take during pregnancy, we were quite frustrated over the lack of information out there, although I do understand no one wants to put their baby at risk to be a part of a study. We decided that it was in my best interest as well as the baby's that I take as little medication as possible but that if I wasn't doing well, we would up the doses. I decided to register for the National Pregnancy Registry to share my story and allow them to do research on the medications I was taking the affect on unborn babies and after birth as well. If my experience can help even one mom out there decide what is best for her and her baby, it was worth the 4 interviews and answering all the personal questions. Basically, I gave them my medical records as well as access to my baby's and they will take the information from my interviews (how I am doing, what medications I am taking, etc) and put it all together in a study on how certain medications may affect unborn children.
Just thought I would throw this idea out there in case anyone else would like to be a part of this. If you want any more info, let me know and I can get you the link and phone number!
