I tend to go from being happy go lucky to being very depressed...sometimes in the matter of minutes, sometimes days. I hate that something tiny can make me feel un-worthy or sad...why does this happen?

it's perfectly described as a rollercoaster ride ... ever heard that expression?

you're not alone ... happens to me and lots of other folks too ... and quite frustrating!

Well in 2002 I started taking Paxil. But since I heard those who are pregnant have high risks of having a baby with a heart defect, I am switching to Zoloft. I haven't switched yet, I only take 1 or 2 a week. I don't think I need that stuff though, I only take it because I used to wake up with nausea all the time, not for depression...

I'm confused those meds are not for nausea and also taking those meds 1 or 2 per week wouldnt work properly for depression anyway ... they're not bandaid meds.

I take Paxil because I have anxiety issues that used to make me vomit all the time. Since I started taking Paxil, I was fine! But with the recent news of what Paxil does to pregnant women, I will switch to Zoloft. I talked to my doctor, she said I should try to stop taking Paxil, and see if I'm sick, if I'm not then there's no point in starting to take Zoloft. But if I am sick, then I should start taking it...

well different meds work different for different people ... Paxil worked for me but Zoloft made me monstrous lol

also ... I prefer to be just on an anti-anxiety med instead of a whole antidepressant if its just for anxiety

if you dont mind me asking ... is it a GP you're seeing? cause if it is then quite honestly they mean well but they really can't help treat you properly if you need certain kinds of meds for mood disorders

and

my IMs are on my profile .. feel free and add me if you want to talk a little easier

I have the ups and downs also. The lexapro helps but I still go from one extreme to the other. It is just not as severe when I am on the meds. One minute I can be okay and then a second something will trigger and I will go crazy. Yes, I would describe it as a roller coaster ride. Roller Coaster Ride that goes up and down and around in circles and never stops where I want it stops. Most of the time this roller coaster stops on the highs and takes a quick run to the lows.
