just thought I'd share part of me with you

The following song is a special song between myself and ex boyfriend ................ there are times I listen to it and cry and cry and cry .... sometimes I can't listen to it at all ............. and there are times like right now that I'm listening to it on repeat and just feeling so NUMB ... whichever the reason ... here are the lyrics, hopefully you can relate to part or all of it too

Quote:
Song: SUPERMAN LYRICS

I canít stand to fly
Iím not that naive
Iím just out to find
The better part of me

Iím more than a bird...iím more than a plane
More than some pretty face beside a train
Itís not easy to be me

Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home Iíll never see

It may sound absurd...but donít be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed...but wonít you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream
Itís not easy to be me

Up, up and away...away from me
Itís all right...you can all sleep sound tonight
Iím not crazy...or anything...

I canít stand to fly
Iím not that naive
Men werenít meant to ride
With clouds between their knees

Iím only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me
Inside of me
Inside me
Yeah, inside me
Inside of me

Iím only a man
In a funny red sheet
Iím only a man
Looking for a dream

Iím only a man
In a funny red sheet
And itís not easy, hmmm, hmmm, hmmm...

Its not easy to be me[/b]

I listen to very heavy lyrics .... I dont know why .... maybe cause it's a comfort to know someone else who wrote the words are feeling the same way?

I tend to find that I listen to bands who sing about stuff that makes sense to me... or that makes me feel a certain way - music is the soundtrack to our lives... literally.

well its different for people ... for you and I it's music ... for others it could be poetry, crafts, arts, dancing, singing, acting, talk therapy sometimes even working depending on the nature of the work ... its whatever people can relate to in order to handle and cope with certain emotions.

There is a band called Skillet, the music, lyrics, and vocals are by a husband and wife team, and most of their music speaks to me a lot. Most especially this song, called The Last Night, off their Comatose album (the parts the husband sings are in blue, the wife is in pink, and both are in purple).

You come to me with your scars on your wrist
You tell me this will be the last night feeling like this

I just came to say goodbye
I didn't want you to see me cry, I'm fine
But I know it's a lie

This is the last night you'll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know
I'm everywhere you want me to be
The last night you'll spend alone
I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go
I'm everything you need me to be

Your parents say everything is your fault
But they don't know you like I know you
They don't know you at all

I'm so sick of when they say
It's just a phase, you'll be o.k. you're fine
But I know it's a lie

This is the last night you'll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know
I'm everwhere you want me to be
The last night you'll spend alone
I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go
I'm everything you need me to be
The last night away from me

The night is so long when everything's wrong
If you give me your hand
I will help you hold on
Tonight, tonight

This is the last night you'll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know
I'm everwhere you want me to be
The last night you'll spend alone
I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go
I'm everything you need me to be

I won't let you say goodbye
And I'll be your reason why
The last night away from me
Away from me

My husband and I figure the wife must have dealt with depression, possibly PPD, because a lot of their songs are like this now, and they weren't back in the day, before they had kids. You can listen to clips of their songs in iTunes, if anyone's interested. Basically anything off their Comatose cd is in this vein, and a lot of their Collide cd is too (especially the song Open Wounds). Their music is hard rock with a touch of industrial.

oh I'm certainly going to check it out!

a lot of the lyrics written by Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty are very depressive-related too ... sometimes I wonder how he captured the feelings so well ... Unwell by Matchbox Twenty actually was the actual song that made me strong enough to go to my doctor and seek help the first time.
