I am so sick of internships. I am almost done with this semester and have just 3 classes left, one includes an internship. Which in theory is all good and well. I guess anyways, I have my issues with it, but whatever. So when I met with my adviser about getting into the program the site they want to place me at is in (A) another county, (B) 22 mins via mapquest meaning with lunch hour traffic will be almost an hour, (C) a half day preschool requiring me to go 3 days per week instead of 1 or 2 days per week. I have several MAJOR issues with this placement (Which I was unaware of at the time of speaking to my adviser). (A) I work 1 mile of the state line. I was told I couldn't do my internship at my job b/c it was outside the county the school is in. Yet, they want to send me to a school that is outside of the county the college is in. Not right, IMO. (B) I have to work a miniumum of 35 hours at my job to maintain my employee discount. With the half day preschool, I wont get back to my job until 130pm and we close at 6pm which does not work for my job 3 days per week. Secondly, I can miss Thursday and come in late Tuesday but THATS IT! Parents already know that and expect that, they don't want to even change my schedule for summer break because of that. My job is very important to me, and keeping my discount for my daughter to attend the preschool is VERY important. I'm just about in tears over this. Its my last semester in the fall, and all I'm getting is headaches from every direction! My Fafsa, my internship, my work, my husband, all directions. I'm just fed up with it.
