I wanted to be a marine biologist, focusing on research. I gave up on that idea when I got pregnant during my senior year in high school though. Kind of hard to spend 3-6 months at a time on a boat in the open ocean when you have kids!
I wanted to be all kinds of things when I was younger - among them a quantum physicist, a paleo archeologist, and a nutritional research. I guess I really just wanted something where I could research and explore. What I am currently working on is very applied and would only assist me with moving into a position as a hospital food and nutrition director, not something that I am really sure that I would like to do. However, if I go back for a second Master's, it would be a much more academic degree that could lead to a research position at a university or in the food industry.
