I'm trying this again (!) lol. I've tried three times since I graduated high school 7yrs ago to go to college. Once in 2005 online but my 'advisor' wouldn't help me and I got lost in the mix so to speak. Then in 2007 at our community college but something got mixed up with my financial aid and I didn't get enough to cover school + books. Then in 2009 I tried online again and only lasted a month before realizing it wasnt' something that I could do (online that is).
So here we are and I'm back and ready to go this time. I'm, as of right now, going for my General AA degree, or possibly AA in HistoryI haven't decided. I'm going to school at our local community (2yr) college. I start Monday for the summer semester. I debated waiting till fall to start but I'm basically 2 classes behind on my degree because I have to take a non degree Math (025) and English (099) class before I can take the degree class for each (Math 108 and Eng 101 for the degree). So I decided to take 2 classes for this summer so I can be caught up and graduate in 2yrs instead of 2˝ or so.
I hope I'm taking it fairly easy, I'm taking my English 099 class its only 2 days a week for 2-3hrs each day. The one I'm the most leery about is my Econ (202) class its online but it was the only class that I could take (I have to have 6 credits to get financial aid). I have to take night classes due to no day care while my dh works and I was limited with what I could take in the summer because of that. The lucky part is that my friend and her husband (we all went to high school together) are also taking the exact same Econ class so we are going to work together and hopefully do ok on it.
I didn't end up going back to school until 12 years after I graduated high school! Like you, I tried a few times. I was conditionally accepted to a great school in Florida while I was in high school (the summer before my Senior year) but I ended up pregnant with DD, so college got slid to the back burner. I enrolled a second time and the day before I was scheduled to start classes, I found out I was pregnant with DS. The third time I tried to enroll, my (now ex) husband had a great job with the railroad, and I couldn't get any financial aid. He refused to pay for school though, so I didn't get to go then either! The fourth time was a charm for me, so I hope it works that way for you too!
Having friends in a class with you can definitely be a great thing! It's like a built in study group! Good luck in your classes, and if there is anything I can do to help with anything, let me know!
