We are expecting #2 in aug and I'm wanting to get a better quality carrier. We used a Gracco with DD but I didn't feel those are my best option. Thoughts?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Graco, it's highly recommended and one of the most popular brands. It's very good quality.

Ditto...we used a Graco Snugride 32 and really liked it. It is compatible with a ton of strollers, even ones that aren't Graco. If we have another baby, we'll definitely use the same seat.

When we were shopping, we narrowed it down to Graco and Chicco, which is another very highly recommended brand. Have you looked at them?

Yeah we have a Graco too (an old SafeSeat - not made anymore I think). I really liked it and will be using it this time as well.

I HAVE heard that the 22lb models are a little more "bare-bones" than the 30/35 models. (It's not less safe, just with less convenience features). Which one do you have?

I have a Snugride 32 and love it! I agree with a PP in that the 22's are very bare bones, and also the harness and buckles seem to not be as easy to use or as "nice".

Ok, it's prob the model I have

Graco Vie4 Betsey Travel System | Overstock.com

It doesn't seem super sturdy. Once we find out the sex, I'll look at a few brands

Oh you had the 22lb model which is incredibly barebones. Here are the most recommended infant seats for ease of use and longevity.

Graco Snugride 30, 32, or 35
Chicco Keyfit 30
Safety 1st onBoard 35 or onBoard 35 Air
Lamaze Via
Britax B-Safe
Cybex Aton
Evenflo Secure Ride 35 e3

All of these have higher weight limits (30lbs+), so you can get to 12-18 months using them. Once baby + carrier gets too heavy to carry, just leave the seat in the car like a convertible to extend the life of the seat.

I just bought and installed a snugride 22 for my cousin today. It fit my budget that I had to spend on a seat for her. It was a little difficult to loosen and tighten the harness, but that was all I have bad to say about it. It installed nicely in her neon, outboard on the passenger side. Her baby is TINY and looks like he might be born early. so at this point the 22lb weight limit was just fine.
This was the seat I got her.
