I know that all car seats have passsed necessary safety tests etc. But in everyones opinion what is a good seat for less for a toddler? It is going to be used in MIL's car and I want it to be easy for her to strap, etc. I know when I get my DD in her seat she is secure and strapped in tight etc. and I will of course show MIL how to do it correctly,I know some seats have issue with straps etc that might make it harder for her
So any input is great!!!!!
We use My Rides in our cars but we are looking for something smaller for her.....

Cosco Scenera, for sure. It is a great inexpensive seat, that most techs will recommend (I do) if you don't have a large budget. The straps and buckles are easy to maneuver, and it rear faces to 40lbs! You can get it for $40, and can pick it up at Walmart and Target (and a couple other stores). They also have girly prints, which are cute.

What are your thoughts on a Cosco Highback booster???
Dh was thinking that one would be a good one for her to get......
I am confused, it says it is 20-40 lbs forward facing, and 40-80lbs booster. Does it convert? It doesn't look like it

How old is your little girl, and what is her height/weight? Does she forward face, or rear face?

SHe rear faces in my and dh's car, but she will be riding ff in mils's car, which I am not too happy about, but she has other grandkids that will be riding in it as well, and I don't think she wants it rf I may go ahead and see if she cares if I put it rf when I install it........
My daughter is 2 and 30lbs

The Cosco seat you're talking about could be outgrown in less than a yr - that's how short the harness is. If your DD will be FFing in your MILs car, I would get the Evenflo Maestro (around $80). It harnesses to 50lbs, which is a much more appropriate weight for booster training, and boosters to 100lbs. It makes a good booster, but you will need another booster down the road because it's not super tall. But we're talking like 4 yrs from now, so that's not a huge issue at all.
