I went to my OB intake appointment at a military hospital today, and was SHOCKED at the Car Seat Info. sheet I was given. Here are a few quotes:

"Make sure the child safety seat you're evaluating is stamped as being made after January 1, 1981."

"Children between the ages of one and four can be in a forward-facing only or forward-facing convertible seat, or a high-back booster or harness."

"If the used child safety seat you are considering has been in a crash, don't buy it."

Okay, so I should FF my one year old in a 20-year old car seat that I bought used?!? I was so frustrated and disappointed when I saw that.

If you were me, what would you do? Say something, type up something that they could use as a replacement, or just let it go knowing that I probably won't be successful in changing how they have done this for years? I just hate that parents are getting information that is dead wrong and could endanger their child.

I would get a few of the USAA booklets and take them in letting them know if they need more that USAA will gladly give them more.

That's some really outdated information!

I think I'd print off NHTSA's flyer and share it with them.

Erica, I love that flyer...I think I will take that to them. I also found a few places around that will assist families in getting a car seat for free if they cannot afford one, so I might put that info and the info to fine a local CPST on the back. I hope that this makes a little bit of a difference...
