We got a Graco Snugride 30 tonight for our baby that is due at the end of August. Are we required to put the carrying handle down each time we are driving in the car, or can it be left in carrying mode? I could find nothing in the manual.

Also, do these car seats expire in 5 or 6 years? I'm wondering since this car seat was manufactured in November 2011. Thank you in advance!

No, you don't have to put the handle all the way down with the Graco SnugRide 30. Page 16, in your manual, tells you what positions can be used in the vehicle. It gives a picture diagram of each position. Positions B & C can not be used in the vehicle (one and two clicks back from fully upright). This seat expires 6 years from the date of manufacture.

Okay, so we can leave the handle upright then, in position A, and that's not a danger to the baby? I just remember that with my child birth class last time, they told us to always put the handle all the way back when the car was in motion.

Also, regarding a different car seat, do you know what the 5 point harness weight limit is for the Evenflo Triumph Advance? My daughter is 4, and FF at 33 pounds in this seat in my sister's car. Thanks for all your help!!

Correct, you can leave it up. The manufacturer has tested it this way, and it has passed testing. Otherwise it wouldn't be allowed. Each manufacturer is different. Evenflo, for example, requires the handle to be down and have 1.5-2 inches of clearance between the handle and the front seat. There are other manufacturers that require the handle to remain upright. It is always important to go by what the manual says for that specific car seat.

The Evenflo Triumph Advance has a 50 pound forward facing weight limit (35 pound rear facing weight limit). The newer Evenflo Triumph 65 had a 40 pound rear facing weight limit, and a 65 forward facing weight limit. The older Evenflo Triumph had a 30 pound rear facing weight limit, and a 40 pound forward facing weight limit (I believe these have all expired now).

Here is a link to the manual for the Evenflo Triumph Advance, in case you don't have yours.

I will sit down and read the manual in its entirety before the baby gets here. As it is, I'm bummed that there will automatically be 9 months off of time to use the car seat (manufactured in November 2011). Luckily, infant carriers are only used for a short while, versus convertibles, or my Nautilus. I assume (maybe incorrectly) that the snug ride cannot be touching the front seat while in motion? Seems like things have changed even since I had my daughter four years ago!

Thank you for the Triumph Advance information. My daughter still has about 16 pounds left until she outgrows it.
