Hello,I am looking for a new convertible carseat for my 16 month old. He's 28 pounds and 31 inches. We were looking at either the Graco Smart Seat or the Britax Boulevard 70 G3. Any suggestions, even if it's about another seat, would be greatly appreciated. Size isn't an issue either, we have a van. Thank you!!

I'm kind of meh on both. The Smart Seat is a heavy beast of a seat at a high cost ($300 plus $50 for each base). It is not super tall and will not last as long as other seats on the market which are half the price. The Boulevard is also a great seat, but it is shorter than other seats again at half the price. Britax convertibles are notorious for having very limited leg room, which is important for RFing toddlers and preschoolers.
Here is a list of seats that will get your son to age 3-4 RFing at every price point. I have starred ones that are my personal faves. The others have little quirks that make them second tier for me, but they are certainly not bad seats. Just my personal opinions.
*Graco MyRide 65/70
*Graco Size 4 Me 70 (also called MySize 70 - currently the tallest seat on the market so will last the longest)
*Evenflo Triumph 65
*First Years True Fit/True Fit Premier (maybe not the best choice for you since he's already 28lbs and this has a 35lbs RFing limit)
Safety First Complete Air 65
Maxi Cosi Pria
any of the Britax convertibles (Marathon 70, Boulevard 70, Advocate 70, Roudabout 55)
ETA: Of the starred seats, only the Diono is over $200. The others are $100-$150ish.
