Just curious to see if anyone does anything special, like micordermabrasion, facials at the salon, etc or if anyone has tried anything you see on tv like the Cindy Crawford or Susan Luccis skin care. Sometimes DH falls asleep with the TV on and we come out in the morning to some skincare infomercial, just curious if anyone has actually tried any of these products.

All of the salons in the area are doing specials on facials etc so I've been toying with giving it a try. I can't stand the smell of any chemicals so I usually avoid hair salons etc like the plague but I've been thinking about it lately because I've noticed a big difference in my skin in the last year or so.

What do you do for skincare? Or is there anything you'd like to do but haven't tried?

I love to get facials and try to get one at least every other month. I don't do the extreme ones, like acid peels or anything like that, but there's nothing like a good deep cleansing to make your skin feel awesome. All the lotions and creams I've ever had during a facial smelled heavenly, so I don't think you'd have to worry about that. It's very relaxing and feels great!

I used to do the real harsh ones but have learned that some of the other ones work just as well - I use the ESTEE LAUDER treatment now - much, much better - when I first went, she was like, what are you using? A brillo pad?

I have gotten a facial a couple of times with a gift card Dale bought me but, I would never buy one for myself (it was part of a whole spa experience). I am sure it is worth every penny but I just can't see spending that amount of money on myself.

I have been using Origins Checks and Balances face wash and I love it. It's about $18.00 for a tube and it really lasts. I bought one tube in Dec. and I still have half the tube left. I also bought Dr. Weil's Plantidote from Origins and it's OK but it's not worth $60.00 (thank god I had a gift card). Dale thinks it smell like petruli (?sp). When I first started using it, he thought I was becoming a hippy.
They have much less expensive face creams but that was the one she sold me on...she's good!

My mom is a big Origins user but she said she has been using Alba (?) face care products from Whole Foods and loves them (and their cheaper). After I'm done with this face cream, I'm going to check out what Whole Foods has to offer. I love everything else they have so I'm sure I would love their skin care.

Let me know what you think if you get any of the above mentioned (facials, microdermabrasions, etc.)

I've never done a facial, unless you count what the Mary Kay or Avon ladies did when I was a teenager. Now I just wash my face in the shower with my soy soap and go. I decided that until people quit guessing more then 10 years younger then what I am when they try to guess my age, I'm not going to worry about it.

I use oil of olay cleanser in the shower and the daily moisturizer afterward . . . nothing major . . . most of the time I'll buy walmart's brand of the oil of olay . . . I don't get a lot of breakouts, pimples, etc. I use the moisturizer also b/c it was sunscreen in it.
