Geez! I really, really thought I was going to run out of gas! Our city is out of gas, the next two cities near me are also. I drove 45 minutes away to get gas yesterday and darned if they were not out of gas also! I was really sweating bullets because I had both kids and didn't really know who I would call if I ran out! I finally found a station that had gas - they had a 20.00 max per car! As you know, at 4.29/gallon that doesn't go far! I am hoping and praying this gas crisis gets fixed real soon, it's crazy! I've never had that sort of scare before!
We really need to figure out - as the "underlings" in a democratic capitalist country - just WHY THE HECK Becca can't find gas at $4.29/gallon but here I sit, in Iowa, where gas is plentiful and $3.31/gallon.
Meanwhile, our government leaders are planning to increase our already astronomical and unacceptable national deficit even further into outer space... just to save the butts of a bunch of Wall Street folk.
People like the lenders who should've known in 2003 that when my ex husband and I wanted to build a house on his $56k/year income (on paper), they really SHOULDN'T have approved us for up at $250k when he'd been laid off for more of 2002 than he worked. I mean, seriously. Even if they couldn't have foreseen the divorce and simultaneous bankruptcy, they seriously should have never lent that kind of money to someone who works in an unstable construction industry. Sure, we deserved to build a house if we wanted (this was a build-it-yourself sweat equity program) but maybe the bank shoulda kept the loan to - oh, I don't know - $175k?
It ultimately was his and my poor decision to build the house that was the final straw... but how can Wachovia sing the blues and want a Federal rescue when they lent us money like that when it was so clearly contraindicated????
Someone "in power" had better fix Becca's gas problem and soon. Or I'm likely to have an aneurysm. Or go crazy and become a politician to try and "make a difference" but in a good way!!!
