I know this is a bit personal and if you don't want to answer, I understand. I was just curious what birth control methods you were using (that is if your not TTC). I have been on the pill since I first became sexually active - I came off for one month when we decided to try for Connor - I just worry what it might be doing to my body after all these years. I was thinking about doing the IUD - does anybody have any experience with this? It sounds wonderful but I think I'd be worried sick that it wouldn't work - it's hard to imagine that little thing in there keeping me from getting pregnant. And I know 2 people who had them slip out - thankfully they knew it before they got pregnant but I wonder how many people don't notice.
Anyway, didn't mean for this to go on and on for so long - just curious!

Right now we aren't using anything. In the "Not trying, Not preventing" Mode. I was on the pill for seven years, then was off it for two (using condoms) before trying to get pregnant the first time. Took three months and we were pregnant with Elizabeth. Tried going back on the pill, but it really messed with my head, so back to condoms until Elizabeth was a year old. Then it took us almost two years to finally get pregnant again.

I went back on the pill after having Daniel, but I developed IBS and it seems to be one of the triggers, so have come off so it's just condoms as and when at the moment. We were going to ttc but with one thing and another we're back to waiting right now. Once I've had my next child we might have to think about something more permanent.

I thought of something more permanent too - but something tells me to hold out for maybe one more - I just don't know for sure. But after #3, I will be begging him to get the big ol' snip, snip!

We used the pull out method. All the kids were planned. Now I had my tubes tied after Madison

Yeah, we are guilty of that method too Lorraine
I seriously doubt that I would get pregnant right now since I'm BFing and don't have a monthly visitor(don't miss it a bit) and we had not been using any means of protection whatsoever for a long time before I got pregnant with Vivien.

I haven't been on any method of birth control in about 7 years! We just do the pull out method!

We don't use anything other than the pull out method. We did that for 5+ years before having Christopher. Chris was pretty much planned, now we're back to the pull out method again. I don't really want to get pregnant right now, but if I did, it wouldn't be a big deal.

I was on the pill for years, since I was 18 because of awful cramps and sickness every month. Now we're using condoms, cause it didn't take me long to get pregnant when I got off the pill. I was glad, I was anxious to have a baby! I want to keep our options open but we can't really plan on having another anytime soon. If it happens it will be wonderful though, whenever God tells us we're having a baby is fine, if at all!

I use the BCP (the type that are safe to use while BF). I would like to get off of them because I am in my 30's and I have diabetes (for 21 years) and I am afraid of blood clots (legs, lungs and head). My diabetes is well controlled and has been since I was a child but I still have fears. DH said he would get a vasectomy but no appt. yet. I am just going to make an appt. with one of the urologists I know is good and get it done. If I don't do it then we may have a 3rd which is okay with me.

I was on the pill for many years due to horrible cramping with periods and I came off it when we started trying to conceive the first time. I went back on it after Hannah was born and came off again when we tried for Sam. After Sam I had an IUD put in and I have had that for nearly a year now but I am not happy with it because I have very irregular, very light periods and I don't think that is very normal. When I have my yearly checkup in a couple of months I want to have it removed. I am hoping that I will be able to convince Tony to have the snip but I don't like my chances!!!

We are like some of the other ladies we use the pull out method when we are trying to prevent. I am researching the Natural Family Planing methods for after we have our next baby.

I was on the pill for over 15 years. I got pregnant NTNP after 6months of going off it. Went back on teh pill after the baby but it kept causing breakthrough bleeding and i hated it so we are NFP/NTNP until I turn 35, then I'll likely get a copper IUD.

well I am preggo now so it isn't an issue but once this baby is born (providing all goes as planned, etc....) I will either be getting a tubal or DH is getting the big sniparoo, we do not want any more than 2 children. More than likely DH will get the vastectomy, he is on board with it and it is less invasive so more power to him
