1. Do you plan to have a medicated or unmedicated birth?
2. Will you breastfeed or formula feed?
3. Whats your thoughts on an episotomy?
4. Where would you like to give birth at?
5. When do you think you will go into labor early/on time/late?
1. Do you plan to have a medicated or unmedicated birth? I want unmedicated as long as I can go, and I don't want an epidural, I will just be getting pain medicine. 2. Will you breastfeed or formula feed? I will formula feed for my own reasons. 3. Whats your thoughts on an episotomy? If I'm tearing, or they think I'm going to tear, they better give me one! LOL 4. Where would you like to give birth at? If it is offered to me at our hospital, in the tub, but otherwise in the bed 5. When do you think you will go into labor early/on time/late? I'm hoping on time
1. Do you plan to have a medicated or unmedicated birth? unmedicated -using water and hypnobirthing for surge control.
2. Will you breastfeed or formula feed? breastfeed (it just packs better LOL)
3. Whats your thoughts on an episotomy? My view----your vajjay is like a t-shirt neck. If you pull on it really hard it may tear but only a little, if you put a cut in it the shirt will rip farther and deeper then ever. I found that if a women was going to tear she was going to tear-it was just a matter on how far. I will be opting for no episotomy and cross all my fingers that I only get a first degree tear TOPS.
4. Where would you like to give birth at? homebirth for me please! I think I would like in water-I plan to have that option if I like it.
5. When do you think you will go into labor early/on time/late? i am banking on two weeks late (then i expect it and anything earlier is a happy surprise LOL)
1. Do you plan to have a medicated or unmedicated birth? My thoughts on this have changed since giving birth to my son. I planned on an unmedicated birth but then ended up being given pit because my water broke but I wasn't dilated or thinning and labor being hooked to an IV and baby monitor wasn't what I had been planning. The pit also made the contractions really strong without much of a break in between. I had some IV meds but HATED the way they made me feel and they didn't really cut the pain that much. I finally gave in and got an epidural which I never thought I would do but it actually was a really good thing for me. So this time going in I am going to once again go unmedicated for as much as possible (maybe with a 2nd child labor will be quicker and I'll make it all the way) but I may end up with an epidural again. I do not want the IV drugs though.
2. Will you breastfeed or formula feed? Breastfeed (I am still BF my 7 month old but I am planning to wean him around a year so that should give me about 4 months before this one is born. I have found BF to be really convenient.
3. Whats your thoughts on an episotomy? I had one with my DS and didn't have any problems. My doctor and I have talked about it and he knows I'd rather not have one but in the case of my DS it was choosing between having an episotomy or having to use forceps because his heartrate was dropping and it had been a really long labor on him so they wanted to get him out as quickly as possible. I didn't have any problems healing and my postpartum recovery was much easier than I expected it would be.
4. Where would you like to give birth at? Same hospital as my DS
5. When do you think you will go into labor early/on time/late? I was 3 days early with DS but I plan on going late so that I'm not to disappointed if the due date comes and goes but DS coming early was a nice surprise.

1. Do you plan to have a medicated or unmedicated birth?
Not sure - if I can avoid the epidural I would love to (very scared of needles/ivs) but who knows what I'll want
when the pain starts kicking in
2. Will you breastfeed or formula feed?
Breastfeed - I am actually looking forward to the bonding
3. Whats your thoughts on an episotomy?
I would much rather tear naturally, so I would like to avoid it if possible
4. Where would you like to give birth at?
I'm fine with a standard delivery at our hospital; they have a very nice birthing center
5. When do you think you will go into labor early/on time/late?
I am making a wild, uneducated guess that I will be 1-2 days early or late, but right around my due date. I
think it would be nice to have an Easter baby though, so I'd have to hold out a few days.

I totally believe that if you get to do it without an induction, and vaginally, 2nd births (and later) SHOULD be unmedicated. This is from personal experience...I did go medicated, though I was pretty much forced into an induction, I mean they can't LITERALLY force you, but when they tell you that you'd be endangering yourself and your child, and you still don't do it, if something went wrong, would you ever stop blaming yourself?
1. Do you plan to have a medicated or unmedicated birth? I'll probably have a repeat c-section since I just had a c-section less than 5 months ago, they might not let me go VBAC so soon after. Plus I'll be on blood thinners also. 2. Will you breastfeed or formula feed? Hope to breast 3. Whats your thoughts on an episotomy? Haven't really thought about it. 4. Where would you like to give birth at? A much bigger and more advanced hospital than last time! 5. When do you think you will go into labor early/on time/late? I'll probably be scheduled for a c-section early.[/quote]
1. Do you plan to have a medicated or unmedicated birth?
My plan was to have a scheduled c/s, but if not, I'll definitely use medication.
2. Will you breastfeed or formula feed?
If I breast feed it'll only be for 3 months or so. I will most likely formula feed though.
3. Whats your thoughts on an episotomy?
I don't think it sounds too appealing.
4. Where would you like to give birth at?
I don't have a choice. Tripler Hospital. It's the military hospital here on Oahu, and with my insurance, everything is free but I HAVE to use that facility (or another military hospital.)
5. When do you think you will go into labor early/on time/late?
I was thinking on time, but my mom had my older sister 3 weeks early and me 2 weeks early, so I guess maybe it'll be a few weeks early.

I am just wondering since its your first child---is it an elective C/S or is there a medical reason you already know of that you would need one?
[/b]
It would be elective. I don't know why, but the thought of someone cutting me open scares me a heck of a lot less than if I had to push something out vaginally. Recently though DH told me I was being closed minded and that he would like me to talk to a doctor about it before making the decision final, so while it would be my preferred method, it won't definitely happen that way.
I definatly agree with your dh, I've done two vaginal deliveries, but I had abdominal surgery (minor) 3 weeks after having my daughter, and the pain the night I woke up after it was honestly worse than the pain of having my daughter. It didn't last as long, but it was BAD. Fear of the birth is pretty normal, but even those of us who are wusses (me) can make it through!

Well I can't compare yet but I have had three abdominal surgeries in my life (all three were cuts that were less then 2inch and usually three cuts) and OMG EVERYTHING I did hurt-laugh/cough/move/poop. And i wasn't back to normal for 2-3 months (and I was 16 for the first-so nice and young and healthy).
I would look into it more----and not sure about your insurance-but many are NOT covering purely elective c/s, and few doctors will actually do them. I can totally get your fear though, but I am actually MORE scared I will need a c/s because I can remember that healing pain. I figure birth will hurt for a day or two. C/S hurts for weeks---I am personally more of a rip the band aid off fast and get the pain over with then the slow pealing it off and make it less painful and longer LOL
4. Where would you like to give birth at? I will be having a homebirth[/b]
YEAH another homebirth mom! I was scared I was going to be the only one!!!!! Do you go to the homebirth forum? (i don't think i have seen you there?)
[/b]
I haven't been there I haven't seen it yet. I will go look. I am really excited about it though!

I am so with you Angela. I know this isn't the norm, but I honestly had no real life friends (and this is still true I believe) who've had an induction and not ended in a c-section. So when they told me they were inducing me if I hadn't delivered by my due date because of my Gestational Diabetes, I about went off the deep end. I had been trying to relax because my first pregnancy I just had the most horrible time waiting for her to come (and she wasn't even late) so I was so proud I wasn't freakin' and then he said that and I started freaking. And I had my mom call my aunt the doctor and ask if she thought that I had to do it cuz of the GD. I was so afraid of the c-section healing because of my previous surgery, and I was just sure that was how induction ended! (It wasn't luckily, but ouch, no surgery for me if at all possible!)
