Do you have a crock pot? Do you use it? I do, but my recipe collection is lacking!

With cold weather upon us, and busy holidays just around the corner, I'm really wanting to start using mine more often!

If you have some crock-pot recipes that your family enjoys, and you'd be willing to share...

Post them in here!

I'll have to ask my husband since he is a the cook in the house. He makes some yummy chicken/vegetable soups and beef stews in the crock pot. I think there might be ribs cooking in there as I type this!

When I was pregnant and freezing last winter I became more of a soup addict than ever in my life. I looked at many recipes online and in books and used bits and pieces of recipes and changed things until it suited me!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

12 slices of velveeta cheese
quart of half and half
16 ounce frozen bag of broccoli
2 cans of cream of celery soup
2 teaspoons of flour to thicken (omit the flour if you don't like a thick soup)

combine everything in crockpot and cook on med until desired thickness. And broccoli is soft. I made this last week and cooked it on low for about 6 hours and it was perfect!

Baked Potato Soup

4-6 large potatoes (We prefer the red ones)
2/3 cup margarine
2/3 cup flour
6 cups milk
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 onion chopped (I don't love onion so add to your taste)
bacon bits
1 1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
4 chicken bouillon cubes

Bake potatoes in oven wrapped in foil until they are done ( 1-1/2 to 2 hours usually depending on the size of the potatoes)
Remove potatoes from skin
Melt butter in sauce pan
Add flour, stirring until smooth
Cook for about a minute adding milk gradually
Cook over medium heat stirring occasionally until bubbly
Pour into crock pot and add potatoes, onion, salt, pepper, bacon, cheddar cheese and bouillon cubes
Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6 to 8 hours
You can garnish with sour cream or more bacon but I left it the way that it was and it was delish

Oh I LOVE broccoli cheese soup. So, so good!

Essie, you can take my husband, teach him to get up and do some middle of the night feedings, wash some bottles and change some diapers! LOL

My hubby can't teach the dirty diaper thing, but he does get up and bring him to me if he wakes in the night.
But he would be more than willing to teach him how to...

Fish
Golf
Play Hockey
Play with the kids and forget to put them to bed
Spend money
and the best part...
be home late and forget to call!!!!!

These aren't really recipes, but we cook chicken breasts in there with Ragu white sauce on them and also meatloaf in red sauce or tomato soup, cooks on low all day then all you have to do is whip up some rice or mashed potatoes and you are done! You can put either one in there right from the freezer. Also if you never have try the cooking bags....so easy to clean up!!!

This is a super easy, but good one....

4-6 chicken breasts (can be frozen)
2 cans of cream of chicken soup
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

Put chicken in crockpot, cover with the soup, add in salt & pepper. Cook on low 10-12 hrs for frozen chicken, 6 hrs for thawed. When ready to serve, thicken the soup with a small amount of flour. Serve over mashed potatoes.

I love it cuz it is so simple & great if I forget to take something out!

My crockpot recipes are lacking also...

I'm making a soup now but most (if not all) of my ingredients come from a specialty store (it's soup from the motherland )
