I went to the doctor last week (big surprise there...it's like my second home) for my routine check-up about my pulmonary embolism (lung blood clot). It has now been 6 months since I started treatment, so I was supposed to be able to get released pending satisfactory blood work. Well, just as my luck would have it, I got a phone call from the doctors office today saying that my blood work came back positive for blood clots still. Seriously?!?! This sucks so bad. I go back tomorrow for repeat blood work, and then will probably be setting up appointments for a chest catscan and for an ultrasound on my legs to try and find where the new clots may be. I was so excited to be getting past all of this and then BAM! Right back to square one. What worries me is that I developed these clots while being on blood thinners...which is not supposed to happen. So who knows what my body is doing. I am really praying that it is not another one in my lungs. That is just too scary.
Cross your fingers for me!

Well my blood work came back bad again, but it was lower than the week before. Iy was at 32, this time it was 23....so at least it was heading in the right direction. But, it is supposed to be .5 or lower, so definitely still too elevated. My hematologist cannot figure out why it is still so high, she even consulted with some other doctors down in Chicago. The plan for now is to continue the blood thinners for another 3 months and retest then. She does not think I am in danger since I am on the blood thinners, but it certainly makes me nervous that all these tests keep coming back bad. I guess I'll just cross my fingers and hope for the best.

If I were you I'd get a second opinion from a different doctor. See what someone else thinks. The whole "wait and see" thing doesn't sit right with me.
