So, I'm sure we're the last one, but Adrian is still in a crib. He climbs in all the time, but has only tried to climb out a couple times, so it's never been a danger. But we feel like 3 is a good time to switch to a bed one way or another.
Here's my silly question. What do you do about little ones waking up before you? I'm a very sound sleeper, and I worry that he's going to get up before I do. It's not like he can get out of the house, and I'm guessing that he'll come wake me, but I'm still fretting about it.

We have a gate in the hall upstairs so she can't get down the stairs. The hall bathroom has a child door knob on it, and so does Seamus' door, as well as the bathroom in our room. The only door she can open is hers and ours to get us.

We just keep a gate on his door at night. He would be into everything if we didn't.

Ah, see, this is the solution I was coming up with as well. Gate across the door it is.

Ana is still in her cot (well, Inés is in the cot, Ana is in a pack n play) she freaks when we try and put her in the bed. She wakes after me, and then wakes Inés, so I wouldnt miss that!).
ps, she can get in and out of the cot with no problam, so I think she just likes feeling secure.

Siera doesn't have a gate on her door (we don't have any stairs and our apartment isn't that big). One of two things happen here -
1) She'll wake us up (she doesn't like entertaining herself)
2) She'll play in her room quietly for maybe 10-15 minutes before she wakes us up
More often than not she wakes us up automatically.

We dont haive stairs so Justin is free to roam the house. usually I am always awake before them if by a chance he wakes up he will play in his room or go lay in his sister bed with her or bring his trucks into my room and ask me to turn on the tv which i dont mind at all.

We transitioned to the toddler bed right after the New Year... we have a gate on her door...it's the best one I found... I just love it!
Amazon.com: The First Years Hands Free Gate: Baby
Ours is the older model (flat top), I found it on Craig's List for $25.
She doesn't typically spend the entire night in her room anyhow...but if the odd night happens and she does, she typically sits in her bed and calls for us when she wakes up.

We also have a gate on our door. He has knocked it out of the door a few times but that made enough noise that it woke me up.

When we don't already have to be somewhere, this happens to us, but the big kids kinda care for him and if not, he comes and tells me "Diaper Change" or "I want chocolate milk" so it isn't something I worry about. Amber would be another story, but she can't open her door yet.

Alex just comes in our room. He'll cuddle with us for a while. During the week though, it's 50/50 if he'll be up before us. If he gets up before us he'll come in our room, then DH will bring him in the living and turn on a movie for him.

On days that my hubby is around he usually wakes up before she does. When he is away she'll usually just wander out and see if my SIL (she lives with us) is up and she usually is.. Morning people! If it's just me and Anaiah then she might climb into the bed with me after a while and wake me up.. or I'll find her playing in the living room with her toys after I wake up. She does know how to open our front door but cannot open the screen door to actually get out. It's a very heavy metal door with a solid latch on it you kinda have to wiggle open. I don't worry about it if she gets up and goes out.

Gate across the door here too.
Only problem is since we moved her and Ryan in together Ryan takes the gate down at night when he wakes to go potty and never puts it back up so she does a lot of early morning wandering now.

We don't have a gate at her door, but there is one at the stairs. I have no worries either way, cuz if Presley wakes up, she will either cry out to us if it's dark or come into our room if it is morning. She doesn't like to be by herself, so she won't wander around on her own. If she wakes us, she will be sure to wake us up, too. I sometimes wish that she would play by herself for bit while we sleep in the mornings, but that probably won't happen until she is 18. Ha!

Zachary just comes in my room, but 75% of the time he sleeps with me anyway...got to break that habit.
