I've been taking a parenting class for the last several weeks called Hand in Hand. Has anyone else heard of it?
I started taking it because my neighbor (also has a 3 year old) asked me to come along and it was free. It's turned into a great night out with other parents...and while I was skeptical after the first class, I'm really enjoying the connection techniques that they're teaching.
The class I'm taking is an 8 week long seminar that introduces the basic listening tools. Special time, setting limits, stay listening, play listening...In a nutshell, the idea is that you give your child a chance to stay connected with you. Connection means more organized thinking and better emotional health. I'm really generalizing. There's a link, but I haven't spent much time exploring it.
