well we haven't gotten a cost of living increase in 3 or 4 years because the state put a freeze on it. I've just got an increase for moving to the next step in my position though, but that's not a yearly thing. Maybe every other year?
Our performance appraisals occur semi annually, but our merit increases factor in both appraisals once per year. I've been lucky also to get increases yearly, though they haven't been substantial (I think 1-2% has been the norm the last little while unless you're a superstar and basically working loads extra for free). We also depend heavily on our bonuses which I've been very fortunate to get as well (these are usually more substantial for me). I don't bank on getting it, and it has often surprised me to get them at all the last few years. Not holding my breath for this coming year on either the raise or the bonus, but keeping fingers crossed.

I get a small pay raise every Jan. I am hoping this year its bigger (since I asked for a decent raise again). I am making my company good money, and I am the least paid person (BY A LOT) in my office. So I asked for a raise (after coming back from maternity leave where my office learned to really appreciate me!).
