I think every day is a new adventure.

I figure I have it better than a lot of people because I work from home, and don't have a commute, but it's still not the balance I'd prefer to have. My job is stressful, and I have to work in the evening often too in order to satisfy my responsibilities to Asia.

Since I work at home, I get my dishwasher done right before I pick up Maggie, and have been known to do some of the basic housekeeping during lunch hours and breaks. When I get home with Maggie at night, she's very involved in dinner preparation, so we call that time together. After dinner she spends half an hour with Daddy and I while I clean up dinner dishes and get coffee ready for the am.

I can't say I get a lot of me time. I have been working on a shower curtain most nights after maggie goes to sleep, but I'm skipping out on doing any exercise which I desperatley need to do, and i don't get any fun girl breaks or quiet time just by myself that doesn't involve errands/work/or house projects. Whatever miniscule time i do find ends up being time spent with DH for very good and obvious reasons.

The only thing I wish I could do differently/better is have an ability to clone myself, so that i could actually enjoy all the things I'm working so hard at giving my family.

I'm fortunate enough to get out of work early (4pm) and I don't have to do any work from home so I devote my evenings and weekends to family and friends. DH and I try to do all of our errands and housework first thing on Sat. mornings so we have the rest of the weekend to spend time relaxing or doing fun things. Some weekends I feel like I never have a second to breathe but overall, this routine seems to work for us. As far as working out goes, I have to get up at the crack of dawn to do it before work, otherwise I can't fit it in.
