How does your employer feel about personal phone calls on your business line during work hours?

Are you able to have your cell phone out and your ringer on during work hours?

I'm not in the office enough to receive phone calls, but my boss doesn't mind.
Yes, I keep my phone on at all times.

provided the calls are not excessive, they do not mind. Cell phones have to be off or on vibrate. An occasional call is fine but we are not suppose to be on them checking our email or FB or JM. Bad habit for me, I do get on mine from time to time

We are not supposed to have personal calls but as long they are not excessive they have not said anything.
We are not allowed to have cell phones here due to a security risk as I work in a prison!

I always have my phone with me. Phones have to be on silent or vibrate.
If I need to step out of the room and I have some downtime, it's generally fine.

bossman doesn't like me making personal calls on the office phone (because he has to pay the phone bill each mo) but if for example daycare calls me at work, he doesn't mind that.

as for my cell phone, he doesn't like to see it out either and to keep from being distracted, i turn the ringer off (vibe still one) and put it away.
