A little pre-labor background. On Thursday, Oct. 30 I had a doctors apt. where I had my membranes stripped. I was at 3 cm and 70-80% thinned out. My doctor gave me her phone number and said she might see me that weekend.
That night hubby and I walked for an hour and then DTD but went to bed thinking nothing was going to happen...we had been having sex and walking a lot for the past few weeks and it did not seem to be doing much.
I woke up around 2:00 AM with contractions that were a little uncomfortable. I didn't know if they were true labor contractions so I got in the tub and timed them...they were 3-5 minutes apart. I knew then that this was the real deal.
I turned on our bedroom lights and started putting lotion on and getting ready for the hospital. Hubby finally work up with a smile on his face...he knew what was going on. We got ready, called my dad to take care of Ayden, and off we went.
We arrived at the hospital at 4:30. I got checked in, called my doc., and was checked and told I was3-4 cm and 80%. My contractions were still 3-4 minutes apart so they were going to have me walk when my doc. came in. She checked me and I was 5 cm. I was checked into my room and my doc. said we were going to break my water and have a baby!
I got to my room, she broke my water and I was at 7cm within seconds. I went from 5cm to 10cm in about 10 minutes. My doctor called in the nurses to get the room ready as things were moving quickly.
I asked for my epidural and was told that I had to wait for a c-section to get over and that I probably would be too far at that point...NO! I wanted my epidural! I labored in my room for another hour by myself and my contactions at this pint were 3-5 minutes apart. I was doing very well with the contractions but still wanted my epidural for the delivery. I was checked again and was at 8cm. My doctor encouraged me that I could deliver natural w/out any problems. I don't think she wanted me to get the epidural.
Then an angel entered the room and asked me if I still wanted an epidural...YES! I made it to my epidural! I had them administer the epidural and felt WONDERFUL instantly!
Labor was so odd...contractions were 3-5 minutes apart and were very odd at this point. My doc ordered pitocin to get me past the lip of cervix that I had left. I didn't even know it was possible to need pitocin at 9.5 cm. The doc left for a minute and the nurse came in and told me we had a change of plans. I was group B positive and needed the antibotics to drip for 4 hours for them to be effective. If not, the baby would have needed very close monitoring and a whole series of lab work done. We decided to let me body slow down w/out the pit. in order to get the antibiotics in me. It was about 9 am at this point and I was told that I had to wait till 10:15 to deliver her for the antibiotics to be effective. Yes, NO pitocin for this girl!
I was very comfortable and was fine with this plan...I had my epidural so who cares if I had to wait another hour. 9:30 came around and I felt pressure...CRAP! I called in the nurse and I was complete. My contractions had picked up and were now 1-2 minutes apart and I could feel they were strong. I was told to breath through the contractions and to try to hold off delivering her for another 30 minutes.
9:45 came around and I felt Elliana inching out with every contraction. I told the doc that I was not going to be able to hold off much longer before she delivered herself. I reached down there to see if I could feel her and she was right there!
My doctor agreed to let me start pushing at 10:00. I watched the clock and at 10 I was about ready to push when they told me they wanted to empty my bladder quickly as it was very full...COME ON PEOPLE! That took forever! At 10:06 they finished emptying my bladder and I was told I could start pushing. I waited for a strong contraction and then started pushing....she was out with one push at 10:09!
I was able help deliver her by reaching down and grabbing her as soon as she appeared. She cried right away and was beautiful! She weighed 6lbs 15 ounces and was 20.25 inches long. I had the whole first hour with her on my bare chest...it was wonderful! In that hour she nursed for 30 minutes of it like a little CHAMP!
They delivered my placenta, cleaned me up, and that was it! NO TEARS or anything! It was a wonderful delivery and so easy...so easy that I can't wait to do it again!

Me pulling her out,

seconds old,

we are so in love
