Anyone have any ideas about the cheapest pharmacy for brand name Clomid or Serophene (sp)? My RE wrote out the script as "brand name only". I called the RE's nurse to ask why and she just said "that's what the doctor wants you to get". Then she said I could get Serophene which I thought was the generic, but it looks like that is another brand name!

I was hoping I could get it for $9 at Walmart, but that's only for the generic stuff, right? (Btw, insurance will not cover it.)

What a pain in the butt. I don't see how it matters whether I get generic or brand name anyway. I'll be asking her about that next time I see her.

I am not sure about the name brand stuff. I do the $4.00 thing from Wal mart. I hope you find some where to get it cheap.

Walmart. I think mine was pretty cheap there and it was name brand.

Look Here

It's listed under Women's Health page 4 as Clomiphene 50mg tab under the $9 dollar price. It will go up a tad if you need a higher dose because that's what I had to do.

I can't help as I get generic and won't go to Walmart. It sounds to me like your doc may be getting some side perks from the name brand drug companies.

Well that's great if I can still get the brand name for cheap at Walmart! I'm going to try that and hope they can order the Ovidrel too because I have to have that prescription on file in case they want me to trigger.

I know Walgreen's usually carries the Ovidrel. I had that done and I filled it at the pharmacy in my doctor's building that same day. I don't know about Walmart though. Good luck.

I bought my generic Clomid at Walmart last night. 5 tablets was $9. It would have been $19.08 at my regular pharmacy (CVS).

I haven't picked it up yet so I don't know if they gave me generic or brand name, but Walmart told me it was going to be $9!

for *something* being cheap!

Edit to say: My Dh is crazy. He said "Of course Walmart would want to give you cheap fertility drugs. They want you to get pregnant and have a baby so you can go shop there and buy baby stuff from them!"

I guess I shouldn't be surprised....a while back he said he wouldn't trust condoms from Walmart because they had a vested interest in getting you pregnant so you could go buy more stuff.

Can I just ask--- does your insurance cover any of it? Or is that the cash price (i.e. no insurance coverage) price at Walmart? I bought my first round at the local grocery store pharmacy (where I always get my scripts) and I'm embarrassed to even tell you how much the GENERIC cost me.

I know it's too late now (I'd assume) to give it back to them and have my script transferred, right?

I already knew my insurance doesn't cover it and I didn't want to tip them off that I am having fertility problems, so I didn't even tell Walmart that I had insurance.

That is the cash price. But that is for the 50 mg dose. I think it you needed a higher dose it would be more.

I have no idea if you could give it back to them...I think they probably would not let you, but you could always call and ask.

Thanks. I'll just chalk it up to a "learning experience". I would think they'd be weirded out if I wanted to take back pills, . I'd LOVE to get my $$ back, but if it results in a BFP, it'll be far more worth the expense.

If only I had searched for this information first!! I would have known I was being ripped off!
