Last cycle I O'd for the first time with 100mg clomid. 5 & 7 days post ovulation, I spotted and then started my period 9 days post ovulation. In order to try to avoid what seems to me to be a luteal phase defect this cycle, I started taking Prometrium a couple of days after O'ing. Well, today is 5dpo and I am spotting again when I wipe. It started out as tinted brownish CM and then turned pink and a little red.

What are all the possible reasons to spot?
Do other women spot after O'ing while waiting for AF or BFP?
Is it common with a luteal phase defect?
Has anyone had this happen and still ended up conceiving the same cycle?

I hope that I don't start really early again this month. Optimally, of course, I will get a BFP. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I am sorry I really don't have any advice. The only times I have spotted after O have been when I was pregnant

Good luck!!!!!!

Aww you're welcome. I feel funny posting here sometimes cause I am PG... but I just can't leave. I love this little board! The best JM people are here or have been here in the past

When are you going to test? I really hope it's IB. <everything crossed>

I usually will spot about 5dpo all the way up until af arrives which is usually 14dpo. So I am use to having constant spotting. If it is something unusual it could very well be ib. I was told by my re that every cycle is different and sometimes are bodies can do some pretty weird things. I hope it is IB for you. Good luck

Bobbie - I always like to see when you post. I am really happy for you!

How many days post ovulation was it when you spotted? How long did you spot? Was it a lot?

I am trying to be hopeful, but since I spotted last month I'm having a really hard time believing that this could be IB. Thanks for being hopeful for me!

I really appreciate the support of you girls!

Oh....and to answer your question. I plan to test on Thursday, August 31 (10dpo). I figure if I haven't started AF full force by then (last month it was 9dpo that I did) that there might actually be a chance. I'll let you know how it goes, of course.

I have the feeling this cycle is just a big dud! I am still spotting and my temps have not been too impressive after "O'ing". Today, my temp is nearly a half of a degree under my coverline. I know that some of you will say "implantation dip", but I just have no hope left. I have a heaviness today that makes me feel like AF is just around the corner.

I hope the spotting is a good sign. I mean, wouldn't the prometrium take care of any type of lpd?

Both Clomid and Prometrium are supposed to help with LPD!!!!

Update:
I'm just home for a few minutes having a meltdown! Ok, bawling my eyes out actually! I started my period full force today. My doctor is on vacation and I can't get an appointment for over a month. I do not want to do clomid again. The last two cycles have been the same! Spotting and starting period way too early! There is no point. I called my doctors office and cried to them and I think they are either going to talk to the other doctor or call my doctor on vacation. I am going to go on birth control for a couple of months...at least that is what I've requested (they are going to call me back). I got pregnant with Madelyn without trying the second month off of birth control.

Oh no! I am so sorry that AF is here. I just don't understand how you could be getting AF this soon and you're on progesterone. I hope your dr gives you some answers soon!

Well, it's official...I am going on BCP starting Sunday and will follow-up with the doctor towards the end of October (after doing three cycles). I have been crying on and off all day, but I know it's the right thing. I look forward to doing some wine tasting during my time "off"!

I guess I won't be posting anymore (at least for now). Good luck to everyone. I hope you all get BFPs soon!!

Oh Kasey, I am so sorry AF showed. She is so evil!!!!! And that stinks that you are taking a TTC break. But, like you said, it is probably what's best. And maybe it will get you your BFP as soon as you are off of them! Keep PM'ing me hun!

You guys are all so sweet. I am really going to try and get my mind off the baby thing, but knowing me, I will probably still lurk from time to time.

I am thinking of all the positive things that I can do now. I haven't gone wine testing for a couple of years and the thought of it excites me. I also think I am going to start exercising more or finding some kind of new hobby. I also have an exam for work coming up that I haven't been studying for because I have been obsessing over TTC.

I just packed away OPKs and my BBT thermometer. I really am trying to look at this as a vacation.

I am also excited that there won't be the stress of TTC in the bedroom, if you know what I mean. Now it can be all about fun when we want it!

In reality, my biggest fear is that I will have all of these problems even after I get off BCP, but I'll never know without trying, right??

*hugs* to you all. I really care about you all and hope you all get what you deserve!
