I was just wondering if anyone has been with their dh for a 1st urology consult? Dh's appt is Wednesday and he is really nervous, not knowing what to expect. He asked me, but I really have no idea what they will do?!?
Any input will be appreciated...Just to let you know what we are dealing with, he has very low sperm count as well as bad morphology and motility. He just had a SA a few weeks ago, that he did in the andrology lab at the hospital, so it was a *fresh* sample.
At my DH's appointment, they did bloodwork, as second SA and a physical examination. DH's problem was readily apparent upon the physical examination - he has a pretty significant varicocele - it actually causes him pain. He also has a history of hernia and once, when he was young, he experienced a bought of testicular tortion so he was pretty much out of luck from the start! DH hated that appointment. He was miserable and said he felt like he was "violated" during the physical exam because it was so thorough!!
At my DF's they did a physical exam (which included a rather lenghty testicular exam), went over old test results and ordered other tests as well as discussed any findings with his tesicles (they were smaller then normal and he saw 1 vericole). At the follwup, we got new results and were sent to a fertility clinic for IVF because DF has low count, low motility & and whopping 1% morphology.
