Ok, so I am 28...NEVER had a cold sore in my LIFE. Then last March (2008) my OB prescribed 50 mg Clomid and in the 2WW I got my FIRST cold sore EVER. At the time, I actually got mildly excited b/c I thought maybe it was a PG sign.
Then this past December, on my 2nd round of Clomid ever, I got my SECOND cold sore EVER---in the 2WW.
THEN--here I am in the 2WW, and I got my THIRD cold sore ever. Only this time, I have THREE of them!!!! AUUUGGGGH. They are all over my bottom lip!
I am so irritated! How do I go my WHOLE LIFE with never having one and now this? And I took 150 mg of Clomid this last cycle, so I am wondering if the higher dosage is why I have THREE.
I asked my RE if it was related last month and he said any kind of hormonal change, including Clomid, could cause them....I asked him last month if he would prescribe Valtrex for me to take if I got one THIS month and he said no, there is not enough published data to show that it's safe to take if PG.
GRRRR. I wonder---if we move on to injectibles or IVF will I expeirence the same thing?
It HAS to be the Clomid. WAY too coincidental----THREE times in my life and ALL three times I've been in the 2WW after taking Clomid!'
I got some Abreva but I tried that last month, too, and it didn't seem to do much....
Married with two awesome 7 year olds, we're TTC with unexplained infertility.
Thank you sophiasmomma for my beautiful siggy!
Nov/Dec Follistim cycle = BFP, chemical pregnancy
Dec/Jan TTC naturally after m/c, BFN
Jan 2010 2nd round of Follistim
I took clomid 5 times and never got them, but it sounds like that has to be it.
The best thing you can get is a prescription for Valtrex. I know it's for vaginal herpes, but that's what my doctor told my DH (he gets them all the time) and gave him a sample and it really does work. In fact, he's gone back a few times to get scrips for it and it just knocks it really fast.
