Hub and I went in for our 8W u/s today. I'm actually 8W4D. Our appointment was at 8:30. My doc was running late, as always. She didn't get us in until 9:15. We were both totally annoyed as we should have been at work. I was skipping some calls that I should not have been missing.

Anyway, we finally got taken back and she started the vaginal U/S. The first thing she says to us is "Did we know it was twins?" WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! No we did not know it was twins. Only one showed up on the first u/s as they are very close together. Thankfully they are in their own sacks. I don't remember whose heart rate was what, but one was 160 and the other was 140. I know it's way too early to know, but that makes my doc think one's a boy and one's a girl. More importantly, they both look great. We got to see them moving around. Baby A looked like he/she was dancing.

Hub and I are in total shock! We can't believe we're having twins, especially since we'd stopped all fertility meds a few months before I got prego. The only thing I was doing was acupuncture.

The women working at my docs office had a million questions for us. While we're in shock, their questions made us both realize how excited we are. By the time we have the babies we will have started ttc almost 2.5 years before hand. We possibly could have had two singletons in that time.

My first questions to my doc was if their heart beats were normal. My second was what my chances are of having a vaginal birth with twins. She said the chances are high if they are both head down. Of course that means she won't let me deliver vaginally if one is breech. I'll have to start researching acupuncture and chiropractor stuff to move babies if they aren't head down.

Congrats, that is so exciting. I am firm believer in acupuncture, we did it our first cycle when doing IVF and got pg. And we did it this time around we did it as well, hopefully it will help us this time around too.

If you would like to see pictures of my sweet (but tiny) boy they can be viewed at www.caringbridge.org/visit/noahdarrohn they aren't the easiest pictures to look at but I am willing to share them with anyone who would like to see them <3
On August 2, 2012 we lost Sarah at 17 weeks. She was our 8th loss Her pictures can be viewed at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/sarahdarrohn

How exciting!!! Congratulations!

As for the heartbeat thing, I don't buy into it at all anymore. My son's heartbeat was consistently in the 155 - 165 range and every nurse that I saw was practically guaranteeing a girl for me (we chose to keep it a surprise) even right up to be wheeled into the OR for my section. Needless to say they were all wrong!

1 of each or 2 of one makes no difference to you I know - it is fun to guess though!
