Alright...I can now say that I'm officially an injectables chick Didn't see that one coming (just yet anyway)! It was really my choice...I'm just so done with Clomid...

So I went in for my second folliscan today (which is cd 13). The first bought of bad news is that my lining is still too thin. It measured about 4 point something, so I'm pretty bummed about that. I'm hoping that taking the Estrace for a few more days will thicken it up. 150 mg of Clomid really kind of screwed my body up

Second bought of bad news is that I had no mature follies-none that were even close to maturation. I think I had one that was a 4.5 on one ovary, and a bunch of small ones on the other. I just don't understand why I'm not responding to the Clomid anymore?! My first two cycles were fine....can you build up a resistance to it?

So anyway-the doctor started talking about putting me on a low dose steroid, to which I said "No thank you". First of all, I've been busting my butt to get in shape...I'm not about to take a medication that makes me gain weight (ok-I'd do it if that were the only solution). So I said to the doc "Umm...how about injectables instead". He considered this and seemed to think it was an ok idea

And there you have it...beginning tomorrow, I will be on 75 units of Gonal F and 5 units of Lupron. I was kind of confused about the Lupron, as I thought that was generally only prescribed during IVF cycles? My RE did warn me that if I am overstimulated, we'll either have to do IVF or skip the cycle. That will be a hard decision...I go back on Saturday for another u/s and please pray that we see something (follies and fat lining). I am so terrified that EVERYTHING is going to stop working. I know, irrational...but it's hard to stay rational when you want something so bad. All my medications are being overnight fed exed to us. Just for comparison's sake...we ended up paying $860 for a few months of injectables. Without insurance-the payment would have been $2,900 It's crazy how expensive everything related to fertility is!

I'm sorry that you didn't see big, fat follies today, but I'm SUPER glad that your doctor is being proactive and not continuing on something that isn't helping you. I hope Saturday brings great news!

Wow, Amanda, what a change in plans! I hope you respond well to the Gonal-F (but not too well, of course!) The Lupron is to keep you from ovulating before your doctor is ready - are you doing a trigger shot with the injectables? 5 units isn't a whole lot, so don't worry. Normally with IVF they'll start you with 20 units, then work you down to 10, and then ultimately 5 as you get closer to o. I hope injectables do the trick for you!! Keep us posted.

When I was on Clomid years ago my follies never matured either....I used to say that they had "Peter Pan Syndrome".....they won't grow up!

Yup...we will be doing the trigger shot again, and hopefully IUI (baring a crazy amount of follies). I'm a little nervous about the Lupron-I've heard some of the s/e are nasty...

I'm sorry your follies didn't grow like we were all hoping, but very glad your doctor has a plan in place for you! I hope you get that BFP as quickly as possible!!

I'm sorry clomid isn't doing it for you, but great news that your RE is being aggressive and moving into injectibles, I'll be hoping to hear that you get some really nice big follies with this and hopefully not too many where you are then faced with the decision of cancelling a cycle or going IVF. 75IU of Gonal-F is a low dose though, so you should hopefully not end up with too many. Good luck!!
