Lurking here!

I'm so excited for you Brandi! You really deserve to hold that baby in your arms! And like you said in one of your other threads, this is just the beginning, not the end. Maybe someday you'll get to have a baby through pregnancy and I'm sure that will be absolutely thrilling... but whether by adoption or pregnancy, you'll still get to be a mommy, and that baby will have a wonderful mother.

Congratulations!!! I can't wait to hear your updates ^.^

I've been following you since I was pregnant with my DD and I just wanted to say how happy I am for you!!! I'm adopted (after 10 years TTC) and I think it's such a great thing to do.

I already posted to you on this in our PR, but it warrants a 2nd go around...

I am beyond thrilled for you! You are one of my very favourite JM mommies and you have been through so so much that you really deserve only good things to come your way. You will sail through the evaluation process, I have no doubt. You and your DH are meant to have a child here on earth and he will be with you now before you know it!!

I'm seriously so excited for you and I cannot wait to follow this adoption story and see the first pics of your family.

I can't wait to follow you through this process, Brandi. You and Christin and Kari might have to have your own sub-forum for TTCMAers who are adopting!

YAY!! We might need to think about that!! The adoption forum doesn't move much, so I think something here might work better!! I'm totally up for it after we get our Home Study!! Right now I feel like I don't have much to talk about

BTW, how are you feeling Mama???

WOW, that sounds exciting. I'm glad your moving forward and going to help a child have a wonderful new family. Are you going to be adopting a newborn? I hope and pray that you have no set backs and this process is speedy and non stressful. I can't wait to read all about your journey of adopting. I'm wishing you all the best.

While I'm not adopting, I would LOVE to read how you gals are doing in an adoption sub-forum. I really think you gals will be fantastic mommies to babes here on earth and any child in your households will be so very blessed. So, do start a subforum!!! We'll support you through it all

Thanks girls

Brynn, we will be adopting a little boy between the age of 12-18 months. We chose this route because it's faster and less expensive. If we are unable to conceive after adoption, then we will most likely pursue a newborn adoption =)

I am SO happy for you!!!
Just curious how adoption works...I would love to look into, but isn't it VERYYY expensive?
Do you have to pay up front, full amount???

it depends on the type of adoption, international, domestic or foster adoption. Im doing foster adoption and the most I am responsible for is $500 but an international adoption can be close to $45,000 and domestic can fall somewhere in between that.

No you should NEVER have to pay up front for your adoption. It should be gradual (a few thousand here and there) with about half of the cost being due either after you are matched, 4 weeks before the child is born or within days of the child being born. the domestic agencies i had picked were about $20,000 w/about 10,000 due 4 weeks before the child's due date. The wait times were 12mths-18mths so you had a awhile to pay and save. If they are asking for money up front its kind of shady and most agencies do not ask for it.
