Please help me. I tried to follow the video instructions. It said to draw up 1cc of the sodium chloride (diluent) and put it into the menopur. Well 1 cc wasn't enough to get it to dissolve. Am I supposed to be drawing up the whole vial of sodium cloride. It is 2ml (I think that is the same as 2cc). Do you know? I am really upset. I already wasted one vial of this menopur and don't want to screw it up again.

I have no experience with menopur. but i have experience with meds, as i am a nurse. It depends on how much of the med you need, if you need to mix it then measure out your dose, it needs to be one cc. If you are injecting the whole vial, its ok to then mix it with as much as will dissolve, as long as you are injecting the whole thing. (But as i cant see wat you are working with, i can't be of more help)

Thank you thank you thank you! I figured it out before you posted. I don't know what I did wrong the first time. I am annoyed with myself for wasting a vial. I think I didn't draw up enough of the diluent. I tried it the second time and it worked. And, man this needle is bigger than the one on the Gonal-F. I even double checked to make sure I wasn't using the wrong needle. Ouch. My tummy is starting to hurt.

I will be so happy when I am done with these injections. I don't know if I posted this before but I have been to nursing school and THIS is one of the reasons I quit nursing school. This stuff stresses me out!!!

Thanks for all your help. You guys are keeping me sane.

What size needle are you using Patty? It should be a 27g or 25g at the most... and only about 1/4" or 1/2" long for SQ injections.

Glad you got it all figured out. It does take a bit for all the powder to dissolve. Just make sure not to shake the vial... roll it in your hands to get it to dissolve completely. I hope this is the LAST time you have to mess around with the injects... this IVF is GONNA WORK!!! Good luck!!!

Well I only had a 22 and a 18. That is all I have. I double checked my receipt to make sure I didn't lose any somehow. I thought they were pretty long.

I would definitely use the 22's then if you have them, they will not hurt as much. But if you can I would try and see if you can get some 25's... much nicer on the tummy when you are having to give so many of them! Use the 18's only for mixing.

Thank you so much. This is so confusing. I think I may have used the bigger one for this. I think I had them reversed. I wasn't given the best instructions for this. I have a video link to watch. I think because ding dong me went in there all cocky telling them oh I've been to nursing school, I can handle this. I went to nursing school like over ten years ago though and I can't remember anything now.

Well the bigger the number the small the needle actually is... so you want big numbers

Here is a link to *Melissa*'s blog where she posted a video of herself giving herself her first injections. Might not hurt to see a "real" person do it once!

Yep, I use the bigger (smaller number) needles for mixing and then switch out the needle to a much smaller size for injecting. Menopur is tough because I find it really hard to get all the stuff out of the bottle! I tried the Q Cap to help mix and I liked it. Some people don't. If you can ask your RE, you may see if you can get some Q caps to help mix it, and they should be able to show you how they work. They showed me
