OK. So I am taking Clomid because my progesterone was low so my doc said I'm not ovulating. So I began thinking that if I used OPK's they would also tell me if I was ovulating, just as my Day 21 blood work level will. Is that right? I mean do you get False positives on an OPK? I had never used them before so I don't know if it would have showed positive before.
But I did get a positive one on Cycle day 17. But I'm also thinking that if I didn't ovulate till cycle days 17-19 then my day 21 level will still show no ovulation and maybe I shouldn't have my blood test till day 25 or so cause I believe it should be done 7 days after ovulation, right?
Has anyone had this problem, or ovulated late like that? And I will ask the doc these questions at my next appt. But I thoguht i'd get some input now if I could.
You can get false surges on OPK's, especially with clomid. It doesn't happen often, but sometimes, your body gears up to O (positive OPK) then something happens (sick, follicle doesn't rupture...) and then you don't O, then later, you may O again, with another + OPK down the line.
So, I would definitely use the OPK's to get a sense of when you may ovulate, and then use temping and the 7 DPO progesterone test to verify it. That would REALLy cover your bases
