Shoot--I just thought of something!

I am RH negative. I don't really recall anything about it, other than I got a series of shots when I was pg with my DD, the last one being AFTER she was born.

Since I was pregnant last week and miscarried---do I need another one?

If you got one after you miscarried, then you will still need it when you are pregnant. If you did not get it after you miscarried, you need to let your doctor know this because if your miscarried baby was Rh+, blood could have mixed and can hurt the next baby.

I spoke with my RE's nurse this afternoon. She said I do NOT need the shot this time b/c I was not far enough along. She said you only need the rhogam shot if you miscarry after 8 weeks. Either way, I was only 4w2d, so she said my RE said it is fine this time.

You will also get it right after you deliver, as well.

Apparently, the most common time that the blood types will cross (ie---if baby is +++ and you are ---) is during delivery. So you will get the shot then and that prevents your body from becoming "sensitized."

I don't fully get it. I just do what they say.

I only got the shot after i delivered and my baby was found to have O+ blood (DH's type). Never got it at 28 weeks.
