I have to give myself the trigger shot tonight at 11p. I can do either IM or subq. I tried subq last time, but I read one, just one, article that said if you have a higher bmi (mine's right at 30) then you should do IM, or a higher dose, or both.

So, I'm just curious (regardless of your bmi), do you do IM or subq shot for your trigger? What's your trigger dose? Hopefully, someone's on board to help me decide in the next 6 hours

I have a high BMI (I'm a pretty large girl) and I did my trigger's subq and never had an issue with them. If you're in doubt, give your dr. office a call with their emergency line and somebody should get back to you quickly.

Good luck!

Thanks, Gail! My RE said it shouldn't matter, and I had a choice, so I thought I'd get some of your experiences. I may sway to subq just because IM sounds painful and so many on-line threads I read says it "doesn't matter"... I guess come 11p I'll just see which needle my hand pulls out of the bag!

My trigger shots have always been sub-q (my BMI is on the low end, though, so I haven't ever worried too much).

All right, ladies... it ended up being a subq shot, for one reason: My in-laws are visiting for Christmas and Kensley's birthday (my mom coming in 2 days too) and they wouldn't go downstairs to their room when I needed to do the shot, so I quietly just grabbed a bunch of stuff and went into the bathroom... I had enough for the subq shot, but no needles for the IM, so that helped make my decision

No one in our families know we are going through this, so that's the reason behind the clandestine shot session

I did not know you could do them subq. I did mine IM but now I feel better because even if it hadn't have landed in the muscle it probably would have been okay. Obviously it worked fine because I have eggs but that shot was the most stressful shot of this whole process.

I am glad you were able to make a decision and get it done. Good luck!!
