TWINS!!!

CONGRATS

They could still be identical twins even though they are in separate sacs, it just depends on how early they split.....

Not necessarily true. An egg can separate at one of four different times, I just don't remember which days equal which stage. The earliest it splits results in 2 sacs and 2 placentas. Just after that is 2 sacs and one placenta. The later stage is 1 sac and 1 placenta. The last stage is thought to result in conjoined twins. If you have twins in 2 sacs with 2 placentas, you usually won't know if they are identical until they are born. If they are b/g twins then you don't have to wait as they are obviously not identical. If they look alike and have the same blood type, then genetic testing would be required to know for sure if they are identical. If there are 2 sacs and 1 placenta, usually it's hard to tell if they are identical or not. You can look at how the sacs are formed and where the umbilical cords insert into the placenta to help take a guess. 2 placentas can fuse, which can be hard to see for sure via ultrasound. My kiddos were in 2 sacs and one placenta that did not look like it fused. We are pretty sure they are identical, but haven't done testing, so do not know for sure.

Based on the shape of these two sacs, I'd say they are either fraternal or very early splitting identical.

Yay!!! Congrats.....I have read that identical twins can be in separate sacs, it apparently depends on how early it split.
