For my baseline u/s my antral follicle count is about 9. Not good, not horrible, but dr says achievement of pg is lower when the antral count is below 15 I think she said. I didn't have FSH taken but I did have AMH which was 1.19. Dr said she wants that # above .75 and ideally above 2. Anyone know anything about this or have a personal experience with it??? I am getting very worried that I am not going to have many eggs or follicles. I am starting on the highest dose of meds 450 units a day. When I did IUI's and had 100 units of follistim I only got ONE follicle, the other previous month on follistim at 75 units I got two follicles. WDYT? I really hope someone knows something about this because I am trying not to freak out.

I just looked up on fertility friend the last month I did on clomid, it was in between the two follistim months. I had 100 mg of clomid CD 3-8 and had three follicles, 15, 19 and 23... if you count the 15 there are three. So I just have to be able to get more (at leat 10?) on 450 freaking units of injectables. The panic is setting in...

I remember stressing over my baseline u/s as well...I think it is completely normal to wonder if you have enough and what all the numbers mean. I had 15 follies at my baseline, and they retrieved 15 eggs...but that's not always the case. Others on here have had a higher count, and then some of the follies were empty. Others had a really low antral count, and then follies appeared out of nowhere and they got many more eggs.

I know it sounds cliche and no matter what you'll worry, but it's not the number you start with that counts. The only thing that matters is how many healthy eggs you have after the retrieval! Even then, all you need is one good one to get you that BFP. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Sounds like they are putting you on a strong dose of injectibles, so I bet you'll have follies growing like crazy in a few days

Thanks Melissa It is very hard to not worry at this point!

Does anyone know if the antral count will change much over months? I swear I had more antral follies on my baselines before and I know I have had more than 10 follies on an u/s before, just smaller ones and then my lead ones. Yes, I need to stop obsessing... this is so hard.

I have PCOS so my antral count is always through the roof. But like Melissa said, it's your healthy eggs that really matter. Have you ever done injects besides follistim before? Maybe your body will surprise you and you'll respond really well to the new drug.

Keep us posted on how things go... and by the way, your new siggy is really cute!

yes its normal for your AFC to change month to month, it shouldnt be drastic like 5 to 15 but something like 9 to 15 wouldnt be out of the ordinary.

my AFC has always been around 15 or so...and I've never ever gotten 15 eggs. I've always gotten less than 11 eggs. AFC is just a guesstimate of how many eggs you should produce but like Melissa said...its not uncommon to have a high AFC and get a low amount of eggs or a low AFC and get a bunch of eggs.

I had an AFC of 5 on a clomid challenge test and that wasn't good, so 9 is much better. The first time I did IVF I got 5 eggs. The second time we did IVF we did donor, so I am not sure if it would have fluctuated from 5 for me, but I think it is normal to fluctuate a bit from month to month. It would be interested to look into diet and see if anything you eat or herbal supplements can raise that number???
