Just got back from my RE appt. It was only my 3rd time going to his office, but they took blood, did an u/s and that was it. I didn't get to speak to the RE! Is this normal? I feel like I got ripped off

I've always meet with my RE but maybe it depends on the type of visit. My visits excluding my hysteroscopy were all basic office visits. Do you have one scheduled to go over your blood test and U/S results?

The only time I seen my RE was at my initial appointment. My 3 following visits I just had an u/s.

I'm assuming, but don't know, that when I call and let them know it's CD 1 again I will just come in for the u/s and won't meet with him then either. Since he said we were going to try this protocol for 3 cycles.

I met with my RE in the beginning, and I only saw him for retrieval and transfer. He called me and told me when I was pregnant. Other then that, the nurses were always in charge of my care. I loved my nurses.

I'm not a fan of only talking to the nurses. If I'm going to get charged $700 every appt, I want to talk to the RE himself!

My RE does the U/S and most other testing herself, so far I have seen her at every appointment.

I think it may just depend on the type of office your RE works out of. I am going to a fairly large fertility clinic. I have probably been there about 15 times so far and only saw my RE during the initial consultation and then on the day of my first IUI (during the second month, my IUI fell on a Sunday and my RE wasn't there that day so I saw a different doctor). Besides that I see a nurse who draws my blood and an ultrasound tech. There is one nurse who calls me to go over all of my results and who I call with any questions that I have. She's great and the person that I have the most contact with but I have only seen her in person once (at the very first appt). This is kind of the standard practice at this clinic. I often wish that I got to see the RE more but I'm okay with this way of doing things for now.

So far, I have seen my RE at all appointments. She goes in to see the ultrasounds. I'm wondering now if that will continue, or I will just see the nurses and techs.

My RE was at our initial consult...but other than that, I mostly saw nurses, NP's and PA's. However, he would occasionally pop in and do an u/s or something. He was the one who did do my lap and ovarian drilling.

I think he stays very very busy with doing all the IVF stuff...

My RE was the one to do the U/S I pretty much saw him always, UNless I was there for just b/w

I wouldn't be happy if I hardly saw my RE, you're paying A LOT of money to be there, AND it's going in the RE's pocket, so you should have access to them....just my opinion

If you are paying a lot I would think you should see him at every appointment.

For me the initial appointment was $297 and then the 3 appointments after that were just u/s and they charge $159 for an u/s. But I didn't have to pay an office visit as well. So maybe that is why I haven't talked to him at all and just the nurse. Who does tell me she will go over my u/s and bw with the doctor and call me that evening with his instructions.

Everytime. He performs all of my u/s and procedures. I would be mad if I didn't see my RE every visit and I am paying that much.

Every appointment I see my RE. She does my u/s too. I only see the nurses when I pick up the drugs.

Typically yes. I generally go in for an ultra sound and bloodwork - sometimes the RE does it and it's her and the PA, or sometimes it the PA and the ultrasound tech.

My RE's office has a tech that does all the u/s and prints pictures that go in my file for the RE to view and a nurse that does the b/w. I have another appt on Monday and if I get kicked out w/out talking to the RE again, I'm going to say something!

Oh yeah my RE did my polyp removal as well -- was there when I was being put out and when I woke up. He called on J.J's first birthday as well and keeps in touch via email every now and then. He follows me on facebook so he usually knows whats going on. Hes a nice guy but I go to a rather large and popular practice on LI. I don't mind seeing just the nurses or PAs they explain things to me better and were the ones always holding my hand.
