It's a young adult book, comparable to the twilight saga- except no vampires lol.
Here is a synopsis I found on Barnes and Nobles:
Katniss Everdeen is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.
There is Love, there is loss, there is revenge, humor, thrill, adventure etc.... it's basically something that COULD happen here if there was a rebellion and let's say reality tv got out of hand and we had some sort of entertainment relative to a mixture of Survivor, Americas next top Model, War, or better yet a gladiator arena.
And for those who have read. I am definitely TEAM PEETA
I agree! I think that is what really had me drawn in. It is so horrific, and freaky, but at the same time possible.
I certainly don't want to live to see something like that happen, but it definitely does seem possible.
I think the first book was by far my favorite. The 3rd was very... dark. Loved the ending though
YES!!! The rights for the movie have been bought!! I think it is supposed to be out in 2012, or 13? Seems waaay too far away. I just really hope that they don't get any super popular actors/ actresses. I hope they use new names!! I also think I put too much thought into it hahaha
