So I had my HSG in October and the RE mentioned that I had a little bit of Adenomyosis in the uterus. I have never heard of this before, but didn't worry because the doctor said it shouldn't interfere with getting pregnant.

Apparently, I did not have this condition during my pre pregnancy round with the RE because I guess many times the condition appears after childbirth.

Does anyone know about this? Do you agree that it shouldn't really impact me at all? The internet information is wishy-washy at best. I don't want to second guess the doctor, but the thought of something else impairing my fertility is bumming me out. Pcos is enough!

TIA

I also have adenomyosis. I can't tell you personally whether or not it affects fertility. Unfortunately doctors and scientists don't seem to know much about it either. Usually it becomes evident when they are doing hysterectomies for one reason or another. They do say that it is more common in women who have already been pregnant multiple times, so I let that be my reason not to worry.

It can be rather painful, although they say some women that have it don't have problems with pain.

Thanks for the answer, Glenda! I had no idea I had it-no pain at all. If it weren't for the HSG, I would have remained in blissful ignorance

Lets hope it doesn't factor into it for either of us!!!!

I was told I had this during my infertility work up. We did have trouble TTC but are pregnant now after 1 round of injectables. I also had issues with ovulation though so my troubles weren't blamed on the adenomyosis.

I was told that I could possibly have this when I went to my first RE appointment back in January. I have since read that the only real way to diagnose it for sure is by dissection of the uterus, which obviously doesn't aid in fertility. I was super, super scared but have since talked to a few people on here who have it and feel better about it. It's basically a thickening of the lining and sometimes it can attach itself to the outer wall. I am pretty sure it can be fixed with meds.
