Has anyone participated in this IVF study?
Efficacy and Safety Study of a Single Injection of SCH 900962 Versus Daily recFSH Injections in Women Undergoing Controlled Ovarian Stimulation (Study P06029) - Full Text View - ClinicalTrials.gov

I have been in contact with my local clinic that is recruiting participants, and they said I am "pre-qualified" to participate!!! The next step is for me and DH to meet with the doctors. I'm currently undergoing testing to get to the bottom of my 2 m/c's, but the study coordinator said that this is OK as long as certain things don't come back positive (so far all of my bloodwork has been fine). This could be the answer to our prayers since our insurance covers NOTHING related to infertility. I'd love to hear from anyone that is/has been in this study!!

I do not qualify as it states "miscarriages". With the clinical trials it usually means more than 2.

What does the clinical trial cover for you? There is an RE's office in PA that is doing clinical trials and it covers all of the IVF. I wonder if it is the same place?

It's probably the same place. Without naming names, just north of Philly.

Everything is covered for the IVF, the trial manager said the next step for me is to set up an appointment for screening (she said my 2 m/c are fine). I have to seriously discuss this with DH tonight - we haven't talked about this option yet just bc it seemed to be far off in our future and would have cost us tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket. I'm hoping he's on board to at least explore it....

Well crap. I'm too young! I would have traveled to be part of it, even (still much cheaper than paying for IVF out of pocket!). Otherwise, best of luck to you ladies in getting to be part of the study! What a great opportunity!

I think it is the same place. Yea, I tried to qualify for the study but didn't.

It is an awesome opportunity, I hope your DH is onboard! Good Luck and keep us posted.

I don't know if we are ready to consider IVF (we've actually said that we don't think we'd try it) but if it were free, I think we'd be more likely to consider it. Good luck!! I hope you get it!

DH is on board. I never thought we'd consider doing IVF, mostly bc of the cost, but maybe this is our answer. I'm even OK if we don't wind up qualifying in the end, bc at least we are giving it a shot. My consult/screening is in a few weeks!!!

Yay! So excited for you!

You know, because of your experience with this, I actually looked into Home - ClinicalTrials.gov for other ivf trials. I'm in the pre-screening process with a clinic in NYC. Hoping that my irregular (UGH) cycles don't keep me out of it.

I actually have some questions about it, but I think I'll start a new post so I can get more responses.

Thanks for starting this thread. I hadn't ever considered the idea of IVF clinical trials. I looked into this after reading these posts and am in the process of screening for one in NY. I didn't qualify for the one that was originally mentioned in this post because I take medicine for hypothyroidism But there is another one that I may qualify for. It would mean that I would have to travel back and forth between DC and NY but DH and I talked about it and it would actually be a lot cheaper then paying for an IVF in DC. Keeping my fingers crossed that I make it into the study!

There is a small memo posted on the walls of the rooms at my clinic that mentions somthing about a single injection blah blah blah IVF trial.

It may be the same thing ... hmmmm something to ask about if we end up having to do IVF.

DH and I ran the numbers and the fertility testing alone is worth the trip(s). I live in rural KY, where we'd have to travel to get to an RE anyway. The best I have out here is a very understanding family practice doc and an OBGYN who's an hour away (she says she treats infertility, but we'll see when I visit her!).

I think we're all talking about the same IVF trial. Is it the mini-IVF vs the traditional IVF? If so, that's me too. I'm hoping they'll let me wait to start until summer (still waiting for a reply to my email) because BIL and SIL are off (teachers) and can watch DD.

Best of luck to everyone going this route.

Yes, the one that I am looking at is also the mini versus traditional IVF study. It would be great if there are a couple of us doing that one so we can exchange info. The idea of going through an IVF away from home is kind of scary to me but saving the money might really be worth it.

The one I'm consulting for is a traditional IVF with one injection of Follistim vs. the traditional multiple injections (same one Robin mentioned). My appt is in 10 days and I CAN'T WAIT!

Kristen (Toots216) - Good luck with the trial! I tried to qualify for that one but didn't because of my thyroid. It sounds like a great study though! Let us know how your appointment goes.

I just made my appointment to go for the in-person screening for the IVF clinical trial in New York. I have to go between CD 2-5 so I am planning to go on Feb 7 which should fall within that time period. Now I just need my body to cooperate and not do anything to change the timing of this cycle since I need to make travel and hotel reservations! I really hope this works out because it would be so helpful to get a FREE IVF cycle
