I had the world's worst pap smear test today.
Ok most of ye remember I had a cancer scare last year, Well because of it I have to be tested every year. I went into and the nurse that always does it started...
She couldn't find my cervix... She tried at least 6 times, twisting and truning the speculum. It hurt so much. I was sweating I mean wow it was sore.
She said my cervix was very far back & tilted to the left. After a long half hr she got the cells.
OMG I'm traumatised... I knew my cervix was back far but they could always get it...

Can it have moved back even more in a year??? Will it effect our IVF??? We go for our 1st IVF appointment in May.

I know the last few months every time we BD it hurts this must be why...

I don't know Becks, but try not to worry. Every exam I have is like that, and it's due to my stupid cervix-- has gone on for years. Officially, I have been diagnosed with cervical stenosis, and of course had to have the dilation surgery before we could do transfer this time. Worst case, you may also need dilated, but I wouldn't worry about any of that yet!

I can definitely understand, believe me!! I hope that it gets less sore for you though so you can enjoy your time with DH a little more. My fingers are crossed that the tests come back clean and healthy!!!

I'm not sure why your cervix is so far back and why it hurt so bad. I just wanted to say hang in there. I don't know why it would affect IVF. I would let your RE know in May and see what he/she has to say about it. I hope your good to go

Wishing you the best.

I don't see how it could affect your IVF, other than you might have to be dilated like Jackie said. Just be SURE they do a mock embryo transfer...it is basically a practice run for the transfer where they take measurements to make sure that they put the embryos in the right place. My RE does it for every single transfer, but some REs don't do it unless you specifically ask about it. In your case, I'd make sure they did it and that way if there are any issues your RE can figure out how to deal with them ahead of time.

Thanks girls for the advice. I will say it to my RE in May when I meet him. I'm starting to write down any questions I have for him so I won't forget. So I'm sure I'll be back to ask yer advice closer to te time.
I've never heard of a mock embryo transfer. I'll make I ask him.

I've a bit of cramping after today but it's not bad now I just wait 3 weeks for my results and pray that it won't be a repeat of last years tests...
Thanks girls

Ive had this problem before as I also have a tilted uterus and it makes the paps more difficult. I think if there was any irretation, scrapes or bruises it should be healed in time for your IVF in may. If your still worried about it I would ask your RE and they will likely reassure you that everything will be fine.
