Hey ladies,

I had my very first IUI two weeks ago on Feb. 11th. I was told that I could take a HPT today. Well, I took one with FMU and it was negative. AF hasn't shown yet and I realize that it is not over just yet, but could I have tested too early? I am just now 14 DPIUI. Should I go ahead and call the doctor's office? Thanks for any and all help! Since this was my first IUI, I am just not sure what I should do now!

It's seems like to me you should have tested positive if you are pregnant. However, I have seen some women not test positive until 18+ dpo. It's still possible that you could be pregnant. I'm surprised your RE did not have a beta scheduled by now. I would call your RE and set that test up for today or tomorrow.

My RE has me test at home on 14 dpiui. If it is positive, I am supposed to call that day to schedule more bloodwork. If it is negative, I am supposed to wait until my period starts and call to schedule my u/s for the next cycle. I have a long luteal phase, and have had to wait as long as 17 dpo for my period to start.

I agree that you probably would have a positive by now if you were pregnant, but it isn't over until AF shows.

Thanks ladies for all of your help and advice! I did wind up calling my doctor's office and talked to the nurse. She said that I did test too early and I should wait until the day my period is supposed to start. My cycle is usually about 30 days and today would only be 26; however, I thought that when I was given the shot of Ovidrel that I would ovulate within about 24 hours. Anywhooo......we shall see.

ccartanddesign good luck to you as well!!! Thanks for the good thoughts! Sending some back your way!

My sister had her first IUI early this month and what she did is she bought a bunch of pregnancy test strips on the internet and than she tested each day after her IUI to see when the HCG from her trigger shot would be out of her system. All of the tests were obviously positive from the HCG shot until 9 days after IUI and than it was basically negative for a couple days and than she started getting positives again by 12 days after IUI and they were getting darker and darker and it turns out that she really is pregnant.
