AF came over the weekend and after 3 natural cycles, we are back to IUI this month. I got approval from the doctor to take soy instead of clomid this month. He said that if I were not ovulating on my own, he wouldn't think it was a good idea, but because I ovulate on my own and was only taking clomid to move up ovulation, he is ok with it. His nurse wasn't too excited when I explained it to her, she kind of sounded like "oh, another lady who has been reading too much on the internet", but when she called me back after asking the doctor for his thoughts, she seemed a bit better about it. At this clinic, they want you to take 2-3 months off between IUI and IVF if you were on clomid for IVF.

We have decided to do 2 cycles of IUI and then start the IVF process. Apparently here you have to pay a non-refundable $250 fee just to get your name on the IVF waiting list, so I'm not putting my name on the list until I know for sure that the IUI's didn't work. Which of course means waiting longer.

I really hope your IUI on Sunday worked!!! How do you like Femara? Do you find you have side effects with it?

That's great that your doctor was flexible with the soy! It sounds like you have a great plan in place- hoping that the IUI works and you don't have to worry about anything else

Thanks ladies, I hope it works too, but after one failed IUI I just don't have much faith in either of the next 2 working. We'll see, I'm trying to stay positive.

I will do some research on Femara, I'm curious. That's awesome that you had no side effects, clomid gave me crazy hot flashes. I'm happy with the soy for now, but I still want to learn more.

I was only on 50mg of clomid, so last month I took 100mg of soy from days 3-7. I had read that it was recommended that you take double the dose in soy that you would take in clomid. I did some more reading though, and some women have had better success by "ramping up" the soy, so this month I am doing 100 mg on CD 3 & 4, 150 mg on CD 5 & 6 and 200 mg on CD 7. Last month the soy moved my ovulation date up to CD 16 which is exactly what the clomid did...I'm curious to see if it happens any earlier this month.
