Well I am thinking about giving IUI a couple shots before I leap to IVF, my dh's new insurance kicks in May 7th so we'll wait until then in case we have any kind of coverage for IUI but if not, it will be out of pocket. We have already been told it would be about $425 total for a clomid or femara/IUI cycle...I will not go near clomid again after what it did to my perfectly normal cycles so it would most likley be femara, and possibly an inject/IUI cycle if the femara didn't work but I have no idea how much an inject/IUI cycle would run out of pocket, any idea?

My question is for the ones that had to pay out of pocket, did your RE let you pay payments or did you have to pay it all up front before the procedure? I can totally swing payments for it but if we go the inject/IUI route I doubt I can fork it out all at once...so I am wondering what you all did, thanks!

We pay OOP and my RE thankfully takes credit cards. We have been putting the IUI and all visits on the CC and then paying it off at the end of the month, so at least we have a few weeks to save up. If we have to move onto injectables, we will probably spread it out over a few months to pay it off (luckily we have a low interest rate and no other credit card debt. Plus we get airline miles!)

I'm also not sure about the cost of injects, I've been researching it up and down and it looks like it can run from $1000-2000+ depending on the medication. Yikes. I hope the femara works for you!!

My RE's office required full payment at every appt. I went to. The cost for my Femara IUI cycle was around $600, for my Inject IUI cycle it was closer to $1000.

The Follistim I just bought was $960 for two 600IU capsules and the pen. The HcG trigger shot was $47

I know there are some less expensive ones out there, which I am going to ask him about if we have to repeat.

SamF where did you buy that HCG trigger? I buy mine from Fertility Friend and its $130 each month!

My ob/gyn office required full payment at every appt. I went to. The IUI is $400 and the ultrasound is $180 plus femara $70, plus HCG trigger $130. Each month.

I git mine through the Apothecary Shops. I'm going to shop around a bit more if we need to do it again.

I do injectables/ iui - the cost for my meds is usually about $230.00 I order from IVFmeds.com. The trigger shot (ovidrel) is $65.00 from freedom pharmacy- so it's really not that bad!!

Novarel (trigger) is $50 through Prosperity Pharmacy. Free Shipping too.

My IUI is $300 with no insurance. He said it had to be up front, but they rarely ask the day of.

For my IUIs, we paid half at the time of the monitoring ultrasound (CD12ish) and the other half when he did the actual IUI. The total was $565.

My IUIs were $440 (that includes the IUI and sperm wash). Ultrasound monitoring was an additional $170 each time. Trigger was around $60. We always did Clomid or Femara.

Gosh I know I have this written down somewhere (the exact numbers) but I think the first time was $410 for the IUI and $90 for the trigger (that one was with a different RE and unmedicated, ultrasounds were covered for this one) and the second one was $346 for the IUI, $20 for Clomid, $90 for trigger shot, and $350 PER ultrasound (we had two).

I really need to get a copy of my bill from the doctor. I was expecting them to charged me around $400 on Saturday, but they only charged me $125 which is what I think it is for the sperm wash.

I paid $1200 which included all of the bloodwork and ultrasounds for the month, the IUI and the sperm washing. Clomid was around $20, the trigger was $75 and the progesterone gel (crinone) was $280.

We do not have any insurance and our doctor requires all payments up front so I opened up a credit card called care credit to pay for it. It is a credit card just for medical bills.

Got a better break down.
Each u/s is $125 so have had 3 of those. IUI with the sperm washing was $225. Still not sure on what the initial consult visit was guessing $150 ( I had a credit from two years ago). My progesterone this time with no insurance was $60 (30 suppositories)
With my injectables, trigger and all it looks like @ $1817 for the entire cycle.

Looked at IVFmeds.com too, if we have to do this again I'm going to ask about ordering from them.
