My fiance's parents just told us something they have been keeping a secret for well... 25 years.
he is unable to have children he is missing part of the Y chromosome? or something.
he's got XY but part of the Y is missing.
apparently he will never have children naturally and they gave us 30,000 dollars to use for fertility treatments .
his mother is dying and she didnt want to die and have him not know this.

so here we are .
I know absolutely nothing of this sort of thing.
there was paternity questions with my DD and the DNA test is inconclusive so that means he's not the father . the father is my ex.
thats great she has 3 older sisters and Im happy about that.

I'm completely confused, upset and I have to admit my first instinct was to break up with him before "I'm too attached" thats ridiculous I cannot do that I love him and my daughter loves him.

basically right now I am just totally and utterly confused.

I'm afraid if i take fertility drugs i'll end up with octuplets or something.
I know that selfish of me because there are people out there who want a baby so bad they'd take 8 over none but i absolutely couldnt handle that.

I am sorry you are having to go through this.

With the fertility treatments you would have to use a sperm donor, right? If that is the case you could simply buy the sperm and have IUI treatmnents (intra unterine insemination). Since it doesn't seem like your fertility is in question it doesn't seem like you would have to be put on any meds. All they do is inject the sperm up through your cervix. Your chances for having multiples doesn't increase at all (as long as you aren't on any fertility meds). This is what I had. I simply purchased sperm from a sperm bank (there are quite a few out there and most give you VERY detailed info about the donor you choose). The bank I went through http://www.midwestspermbank.com/catalog.htm gives you the option of sending a picture ino them and they will try and match you with a donor who looks like your SO. I am sure there are plenty of others that do that too. So you do have options!

I wish you the best of luck.

Confusion is my best friend at times! I am sorry that she waited this long to tell you but look at it this way, now that you do know you are 1 step closer to that BFP. I am sure that everything will be fine and that you will get that BFP!! Good luck and don't hesitate to ask any questions because all of the ladies here are so knowledgable and are eager to share information with you!

we want to try other things before doing the donor route because he wants a baby of his own.
from what we've been told ICSI is a possible route.
I was told if we do that I have to take drugs to mature more eggs so they can retrieve them.
If the need be we'll go the donor route as we'd rather a child from a donor than none at all.
I'm a bit happy at the idea of never needing to take birthcontrol again.
