I have no fertility problems that we are aware of my child was conceived after just three regular cycles.
it appears that as soon as my periods get regular I get pregnant.

my fiance is infertile.
according to his medical records he will be unable to conceive a baby .
we have been told we can try ICSI (i think thats what it is called) but it will be cheaper and we have a better chance if we go with IUI and donor sperm.

thats fine by me but he's a bit upset by that as it means he'll never get a biological child.
He loves my DD and as far as he is concerned he is her Daddy but its just not the same.

my question is if i have no real fertility issues and the problem lies with him how many vials of the sperm should we purchase?
what if it takes the first time and we've got all this extra sperm . I know we can store it at the fertility clinic here in town for a yearly fee.
how many would you recommend we buy?

I just wanted to pop in. We also used IUI with donor sperm. ICSI was not an option for us. Truthfully we bought the vials month to month. There was never a problem getting the same donor, but you could always ask the bank how many vials they have. If they don't have many then you would definately want to purchase in advance.

For my DD it took 4 IUI's with a single vial each time. some docs do double inseminations so that would be 2 vials each time. With this one it took 5 IUI's with a single vial each time. Some women get lucky the first time though, so I can't really recommend how many to buy ahead of time. If you end up with too many, then you can store them for future pregnancies if you think you will want more than one child. We didn't do that with DD and had to choose a new donor for # 2. We're okay with that, but some people want their children to be from the same donor.

Good luck and feel free to PM with any questions you might have.

thanks .
I'm just all so new at this. I never even thought of this sort of thing. I decided I wanted to get pregnant and I got pregnant after 3 30 day cycles.

I hope it is ok I popped in from another forum, but I wanted to tell you that we did ICSI and it was very easy and works very well. It was successful for us and anyone else I know that tried it.
Good luck.
