After all the crap of going through a round of injectibles, I only have one follicle. I feel misled since a tech measured seven starting to grow last weekend. All this money, office visits, emotional energy, incessant blood draws, etc, doesn't seem worth it to just end up with one. I produce one follicle and ovulate every month perfectly fine on my own. What did I just spend all this effort on?!

I'm probably triggering tonight and driving way out to the suburbs Friday for the IUI because my regular office is closed for the holiday. Problem is, DH and I both work on Friday so this would mean we have to take the morning off when our coworkers are counting on us to hold down the fort. My local office told me they'd be closed for Thanksgiving but didn't mention anything about the day after until now. I begged my RE to let me push it all back one more day and she said it might be possible if my bloodwork shows I'm not surging yet. I'm not sure why I would be when it's only cycle day 10.

This cycle has just been really hard. I feel like such a different person from who I was last month.

Oh man.. I am so sorry you are disappointed this cycle. I know you where hoping for many follies specially with injectables.

Maybe though all those meds made that one follie and egg extra juicy then you can do on your own. It's possible that out of all those little follies those eggs where not of good enough quality, but this one IS!

It is so hard to be on these medications and the money it takes to do it is heartbreaking enough as it is. I understand how you feel, but I think your baby is in that one perfect Follie that you have right now! Don't lose hope. You can do this AND will get through this.

Is there someone you can get to work Friday for you for half the day so you can go have your IUI done?

Ugh, I would be frustrated, too! I hope that things turn out better than you expect and that this cycle works for you...my fingers will be crossed.

I definitely felt extra let-down when a new treatment plan didn't work. Whenever we'd switch things up I was always extra hopeful, and then the disappointment was even more because of my expectations. I know that doesn't help you right now, but please know that the way you feel is very normal.

Thank you, ladies, for reminding me I'm normal and for being so encouraging. Sometimes I really want to quit.

If I have to go Friday, work will manage. I guess my real issue is that I don't want to tell anybody that I have yet another doctor appointment. It's easy for me to slip in and out when I'm just going to the office nearby and nobody even knows or cares.

This journey better end with a baby!

OK...let me first tell you my story about one follicle!

My first cycle of injections, they went really easy on the dose because I have PCOS and they were afraid of over-stimming me. Welllll....they went a little too easy and I only had one follicle-maybe two-at the most. I was pretty disapointed because I thought I'd have four or so.

Anyway, the RE talked about canceling the cycle/IUI. I said no because I went through all of that (not to mention the money)...I wasn't going to cancel if I had one good follie.

Turns out that one follie turned into our baby girl You just never know! Good luck to you. Sometimes the best cycles yield bad news, and the cycles no one believes in gets you that baby!

Know how frustrating it is to have only one follicle. I thought for sure I would have more this cycle since they increased my meds but nope just one lonely follicle too. But you can't lose hope yet. It only takes one and maybe this one follicle is better quality then what you produce on your own! Also I typical trigger on day 10. Injectables can make the follicle ready sooner. Hope this one follicle gives you your miracle baby!!

What a great story! See - it only takes one perfect follie and that is what you've got!

I am so sorry to hear this. This process can be so frustrating and emotionally draining.

I don't know if this helps or not but I wanted to share my "one follicle" story with you too. I had a similar experience when I tried my first round of IVF. I started out with 6 follies and everything looked good. But then I went back around CD10 and I only had one follie. They cancelled my cycle and I was crushed. I met with the RE and he said that they had given me too much medication. Apparently my system got "overrwhelmed" by the meds and my ovaries basically shut down. I didn't realize that could happen. They suggested that I do minimal stimulation IVF (less meds) in the future and that was what got me my BFP.

I have no idea if this is at all related to what happened to you but I just thought I'd share.

I hope that this one follie gives you your BFP!! It really does only take one!

THANK YOU for the one follicle stories. They made me choke up. I'm going to print this thread and post it by my bed. I was so upset last night that I couldn't sleep.

Hi,
I can so understand your frustration with this cycle. And feeling like a different person as the time goes on. I can really relate. You are still the same wonderful person as you were when you started this treatment! You are doing a selfless thing here. I wish you the best and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
